I'm sorry, but this makes no sense to me. If I've lost a loved one at the hands of a Baptist, should I object to a Baptist church being built near the sight of that incident?

 

And to me, America is number one as well. But I think that what I feel makes her number one and what you think makes her number one are very different.

For you not to understand the difference between one family member being lost and the greatest tragedy in American history tells me all I need to know. And yes my belief and yours a re far different...to me war means kick the crap out of the other guy and get out. America's current war philosophy is to blow up buildings and then rebuild them at our cost. That is stupid.

I don't think they should put a statue up of Karen Sypher at the new YUM arena either....does it make better sense to you now? :confused:

You also speak for the majority in the state of New York, which you showed, and America through polling. The problem is that the majority doesn't rule in America anymore-judges do. You also see that just like the Bible-the constitution and amendment are now used by all to prop up their arguments. Anybody can twist things however they see fit. Don't be discouraged, there is opposition to every idea, and part of that is what makes our country great. It is also what is killing and will kill our country. Like famous "lefty" musician John Mellencamp said in a tune, 'If ya don't stand for something, then you'll fall for anything."

2 - Whether or not I knew anyone killed in 9/11 doesn't change the fact that not all Muslims are terrorists, and those building the mosque are well within both their legal and constitutional rights to do so.

 

3 - When have you ever heard me get upset about a military person being killed in combat? They signed up for the military, and while it saddens me any time a young person's life is cut short, they were fully aware of the risks involved.

I hear you Ace, and that is a great point. I absolutely fall as one that often will put country before religion, and that is probably an error.

If the zoning rules are followed, "public acceptance" has nothing to do with it.

 

Unless you (general you - not specific) can have a technical objection as to why this particular type (structure) of building cannot be built at this particular location, then the only objection is to what would go on inside of the building - that would be discriminatory based on religion.

Nowhere have I stated that this particular structure "cannot" be built at the specified location. I have stated that it should not be built there... and it's a stupiid idea.

 

Abotrtion is "legal"... I disagree with it in about 95% of circumstances. There are about 2,000 mosques in the U.S. I have a problem with this one, primarily because of where it is proposed to be. That's .05% (5/100ths of one percent) I have a problem with... and I'm intolerant? :idunno:

That is the problem with generalities. A Muslim group killed 3000 + innocent civilians that day. I don't think the KKK has killed 3000 folks in their existence, although I am not positive. Both the group that flew the planes into the World Trade Center, and Pentagon, and fields in Pennsylvania, and the horrid KKK are hate mongers. They both are guilty of religous and social intolerance.

I see them as very similar.

Aside from the fact that many fundamentalist Muslim sects practice religious and social intolerance in the name of their faith and understanding of the Koran... good point. :lol:

Aside from the fact that the vast majority of practicing Muslims are peaceful citizens of whatever country they call home, you're correct.

There are groups of Muslims that are guilty no doubt. There are also groups of Christians and Catholics that are guilty of the same.
