Rand Paul says Obama too tough on BP

Featured Replies

(CNN) - Republican Senate candidate Rand Paul is taking aim at President Barack Obama's handling of the oil crisis off the Gulf Coast.

The president, Paul told ABC, is being too tough on BP - the oil giant that controls the well that has been leaking thousands of barrels of oil a day in the Gulf since late last month.

"What I don't like from the president's administration is this sort of 'I'll put my boot heel on the throat of BP,'" said Paul who overwhelmingly won Tuesday's GOP Senate primary in Kentucky and is a favorite of Tea Party activists. "I think that sounds really un-American in his criticisms of businesses."

His statement is just another scare tactic that is has been used since day one. The "Un-American" and several other things that have been said. Another example trying to use his middle name to suggest he isn't an American.

I heard an interesting comparison between the gulf oil spill and the Apollo 13 mission last week. In the Apollo 13 mission something went terribly wrong. NASA, the federal government, every branch of the military, and every private contractor involved in the construction of the capsule came together and worked around the clock to get the astronauts home safely...With very little finger pointing they solved the problem. The oil spill is quite different. Everywhere form the private contractor that made the smallest part, to the POTUS are pointing fingers, threatening, worrying about who and what it's going to cost, and getting nothing done. Is hanging BP over an accident (I'm sure they would have stopped if they could have) really that much of a vote getter?

I will have a really hard time understanding why anyone would take Rand Paul seriously after this comment. Too hard on the people responsible for the largest oil spill in history? Wow.:ohbrother:

Did he do this or are you just making a comparison? If he did, he'll get a demerit from me, as I'm not big fan of that.

I didn't read the article until I saw CoachBuckett's post. Perhaps I'm behind, but the article mentioned Paul taking heat over comments about the Americans with Disabilities Act. What is that about? I assume it is the same as what he is in hot water over with the Civil Rights Act, that businesses should not mandated to make accommodations to provide services for those in wheelchairs, etc. I am right im my assumption?

Watching the Dems spend all this time, and having their media stooges absolutely try and crucify Dr. Paul; would seem to suggest they have a bit of concern over his message?? Looks to be Sarah Palin "part II"??

Much like Palin, the material is there for the taking, it would seem.

I hope for Rand's sake that he isn't the second coming of Sarah. He's bound to be at least a little bit smarter than her, although some of his comments make you wonder.

BTW, just what is/was Sarah's message?

I'm afraid the smaller government message scares the crap out of those determined to turn the US into another European Socialist country?? By the way, how's that working out over there??

Have you ever watched Penn & Teller: BS?

I'm confused. :idunno:

Rand Paul is saying that Obama is TOO Tough on BP and Sarah Palin is saying that Obama is TOO Soft and "looking the other way" because of contributions. So which is it guys?

The more Rand Paul speaks the better the outlook for Conway.

When is Conway going to say anything................

It tells me that individuals have differing opinions on the matter as opposed to some sort of thing they are supposed to say.

Given Sarah's time in Alaska, a state with windfall taxes on oil already, I don't think she and Paul see eye to eye on everything. I think the reason she endorsed him (which turned my stomach to begin with) was because of his populist backing. I don't think it was because of her agreement with him ideologically on all matters.
