I think Paul will win 55% to 45%. Conway is going have to stand up for something. He will have the national media support and full throttle support of the dems (as he should), but the Commonwealth will not stand to be told who we should elect.

Conway CAN"T run on his record or plans because outside of Louisville it will kill him as he is way more liberal then most of the state. I'm sure his cap and trade support will go over big in eastern KY. I fully expect Conway to overwealmingly carry Jefferson County and by a smaller margin Fayette County. Other then that I don't think he wins much. Maybe it will be enough to win the election but I hope not.

How will Rand Paul's negative remarks on the coal industry go over in Eastern Kentucky? I think Paul is way to the right of the average Kentuckian and when he starts talking about raising the age for social security he will lose even more votes.

You're probably correct, but until Kentuckians, and all Americans, understand and are willing to sacrifice to right the ship, we have no right to complain when the status quo in DC and Frankfort continues and takes us over the cliff. I don't like the idea of working longer or making sacrifice. I wish our age of luxury could continue forever. But, if we had the brass to do it now, we could get things turned around. Eventually, the sacrifice required will be much more sever and won't be a choice.

 

Personally, the fact that Rand Paul is willing to even talk about Social Security and raising the retirement age scores points with me. Whether that happens or has to happen means less to me than the idea someone is willing to tackle tough issues to get our country back to financial reality.

I'm 50 years old. If Obama and his cronies are allowed to continue running up deficits at the rate they have been I doubt Social Security will be available for me when I retire anyway. Paul may be right of the average Kentuckian BUT he IMVHO is closer to the average Kentuckian then Conway is. Conway is the prototypical career politician. I don't think that he has ever held a job in the private sector and he has tarnish in his mouth from the silver spoon he w as born sucking on.
