May 3, 201016 yr The discussion was on the radio Saturday, I think. I can't remember who was talking about it, and only caught a snippet, as the 17 year old daughter doesn't seem to appreciate AM sportstalk. Phillips has had some issues with hustling balls out, and Dusty has gotten upset over it both last year & this year. With that said, if we're choosing sides, I'll take BP over Dusty. Dusty is right on this one, but BP brings a lot more to the table than Dusty. I'd be okay with both of them being gone...
May 3, 201016 yr Scott Rolen & Cabrera have made this lineup much, much better. Even though they're not performing at a very high level, they're professional hitters who are capable of putting the ball in play. When there is a man on 3rd and less than 2 outs, Cabrera gets him in. That was something that really concerned me in prior years... I think I heard Cabrera leads the league in sac flies? Could that be true? Phillips hasn't hit very well in the 2-hole, but I think it makes us much more dangerous offensively. Hanigan has been great behind the dish. Hernandez makes the big bucks and can contribute, but Hanigan has been on fire. He's on base exactly 50% of the time & you simply cannot leave that out of the lineup. I haven't watched the last two games. However I remember the few games before the last two he was hitting really well in the 2 hole, and had a couple of multihit games back to back.
May 3, 201016 yr Phillips hasn't hit very well in the 2-hole, but I think it makes us much more dangerous offensively. I'd like to take this statement back. It's wrong. Phillips has hit .304 while hitting in the 2 hole. He's walked 3 times, struck out twice, and stolen 1 base. He's hitting .304, with an OBP of .385.
May 3, 201016 yr Drew Stubbs 8 Brandon Phillips 4 Joey Votto 3 Scott Rolen 5 Jonny Gomes 7 Orlando Cabrera 6 Chris Heisey 9 Ramon Hernandez 2 Mike Leake 1
May 3, 201016 yr Stubbs with a leadoff HR in the bottom of the 1st. Stubbs makes an error in the top of 2. Jeff Francouer singles in the run... Tied 1-1. Leake has given up 2 hits, 1 unearned run.
May 4, 201016 yr Really starting to like Leake. I will warn all Reds fans not to be suprised to see him get roughed up a bit here soon.
May 4, 201016 yr I will warn all Reds fans not to be suprised to see him get roughed up a bit here soon. Thanks for the heads up...
May 4, 201016 yr Leake done after 6 IP, he was at 100 pitches. Should have the lead right now really, he pitched well again.
May 4, 201016 yr Another strong outing for Leake. At this point the ace of the staff. How many innings can be expected out of the rook? College high was 140 innings.
