Anyone ever have a robbery or break-in happen to them?

Craziest thing tonight, we got home tonight after a movie with our buddies and I noticed the craziest site....My car doors were open!!!!

But, no one took any of my CDs or my backpack. I had two jackets in there but they were still in the car. But, I had put some of my buddies stuff in there when we were cleaning out his car and it's gone. To make matters worse, it rained and my passenger side interior is soaked. Just my luck.:ohbrother:

Wow man hate to hear that. Crazy.

Three times. A long time ago, when I was married, someone broke into our apartment and cleaned out the kitchen of the microwave, two purses and a camera. They probably would have taken more, but I woke up and heard a noise and they fled.

The second time, someone (again) broke into my house and stole my purse that was on the kitchen table.

A third time, someone broke into our garage and stole 3 bikes.

My son had his car broken into on Halloween night and they stole his stereo and a backpack out of the front of the car. The crazy thing is, they completely tore out the front console panel to get the stereo out, and it wasn't even in there securely. He'd deliberately left it so that if someone DID break in, they could just take the stereo without tearing up the dash. They also failed to look in the trunk, where there was a brand new set of golf clubs.

My cars are broken into on a monthly basis. The first time it happened, my wife called me on her way to work asking if I got into her car, because the glove compartment box was open along with the middle console. I didn't, so I went out to look at the other cars, and sure enough, they were all opened. Nothing was taken, but it still ticks you off. I also noticed other neighbors had been hit as you could see where the person wiped the moisture of the windows to see in the cars. Since then, it's been a monthly occurrence on our street. I'll come out to find my dome light off, which is a sure sign someone has been in my car, along with my truck door being ajar. They're not taking any change or cds. They're looking for something they can take quietly and make some quick cash on. I never lock my doors, because I have nothing in my vehicles. However, earlier this week, I left a tool in the back, and sure enough, they took it. :irked: I'd love to catch the people who are doing this. And granted, I need to get into the habit of locking my doors.

The catch 22 to this is, is the stuff they could/would take worth the damage they'd do when the broke in. That's the dilemma I always struggle with. Nothing in our car is of any value, really. So if they take something, it's easily replaced. But if they do any damage, it will cost a lot more to fix the car than to replace the items. We lock the doors. But, I still think twice whenever I do.

My grandmother's car was broken in to a few weeks ago...I bet the robber was disappointed to find that the only thing kept in a 67 year old woman's car is her insurance papers and registration, along with some loose change. (mainly pennies)

I can also remember when I was in high school and my car being broken in to on school property. It was a week end and we were heading down to Mason Co for the Spectrum Graphics Tournament. We were gone all day Saturday and when I got back to school, my car door is open, $200 CD player stolen and they tried to take the speakers out of my back but since I drove a blazer and the back hatch didn't have a key lock on it, they were unable to get it out over the seats.

Yep, long time ago when I lived in Southgate. Someone came through a window and took my wallet that was sitting on a breakfast bar. We found the wallet on a neighbor's grill the next day. Only thing missing was a few bucks.

Years ago, I wanted to wear a certain necklace and found it was missing. I then noticed that all my good stuff was gone (not that there was a whole lot) and the cheap stuff was still there. I have no idea when they were stolen. However, I have since heard about one or two people who will boldly walk in, take what they can put in their pockets and leave. They know all the hiding places and mine was a typical place. I have to admit that I rarely locked my doors back then.

I grew up in this city when no one locked doors and it took this to make me realize that times have certainly changed.

The scary thing is criminals now take cash and write down all credit card info if they have time. A lot of people don't want to go through the hassle of canceling all cards. So a couple days later the crook uses the cards online.

Man that sucks CCC. We had our apartment broken into when I was 1st married. We knew who did it, told the police. They said they couldn't even talk to him about it. So me and a few cousins kinda took care of it. :sssh:

I hope you find out who it was. People who steal are cowards.

And that's kinda why I never lock mine. However, these punks are just skipping over the locked cars. I think it's just some kids in our neighborhood doing this. We live in a great neighborhood, but unfortunately, it's one where a lot of parents don't watch their kids (which opens up a whole other dilemna on trying to teach my kid what I think is right and wrong).

In Erlanger we have had a rash of car break in's and I noticed at Silverlake Gym this morning a sign posted by the Erlanger PD to make sure nothing of value is in your vehicle worth taking they are breaking into locked cars also. So after leaving Silverlake I stopped by Erlanger PD since I am on council and one of the officer's told me mainly happening around businesses and apartment buildings. They said the are having a few call's daily. JD

That's about the situation that I'm in. We don't exactly know everything of my buddies that was in the car so it's hard to even file a police report or anything. I wouldn't expect they would even be able to do anything about it. Luckily all that we can figure was lost was some old sweatshirts and T-shirts. Sucks to lose them, but neither of us had anything in there of real value. I always lock my car no matter where I am, but the one time I don't....:idunno:

Maybe getting some tinted windows? They wouldn't be able to see in the car.

Many years ago the hospital I worked for gave a saftey class for all employees. The one thing I remember is to NEVER leave ANYTHING in view in your car. It might just be an old sweat shirt, but thieves will do a lot of damage just to get it.
