April 15, 201016 yr Here's a recap: - He proved himself this year and he felt like it was his time to go - Calipari told him it was his time and he needed to go - Possibility that he could come back and get hurt; also possibility that he could get even better - What he's hearing about NBA Draft: "Right now, I'm hearing top 5...top 10." - He's never been accepted like he was at Kentucky - DeMarcus and family feels it's the right decision to enter the Draft - Time at UK was "one of the most precious times of my life..." - He says he will have a friendship with every one of his UK teammates for the rest of his life - He's had a good relationship with Coach Calipari and appreciates everything Calipari has done for him - "It was a hard decision." - The big part of his decision was the risk of getting hurt and ending his career if he returned to college - "Yeah, I am finishing up school." - Will work hard on conditioning leading up to the draft - Advice for other recruits: "If you come to Kentucky, you're going to love it. I don't know about any other schools, but you're going to love it here." - Says his mom found his agent; "I just let my mom handle it..." - One of his best memories was Senior Night; just seeing how happy his teammates were - Classic DeMarcus: "My goofiness became popular, I guess..." - Will you guard that cell phone number a little better when you're in the league? "Oh yeah!"
April 15, 201016 yr Congrats to the big man. He got a hard time by a lot of fans who didn't like his emotions, but Boogie proved to be a man both on & off the court.
April 15, 201016 yr I wish him nothing but the best. I really came to appreciate him as the year wore on. Thanks for the fun Boogie. :thumb:
April 15, 201016 yr When the season started I was openly critical of Cousins, and boy was I wrong. I don't know why but I like him better than any other Cats player of my lifetime.
April 15, 201016 yr Anyone remember his footwork in the first few weeks of the season? It was terrible. He would catch the ball in the post and take two dribbles without moving 2 inches (unless he ran over someone for a charge) and shoot right over the out-stretched hands of his defender. It was painful to watch. As time went on he started going AROUND his defender. He developed a great baseline spin move. He started taking big steps to get his defender off balance and set them up. All the talk about Cal being a great recruiter is definitely well-deserved, but few are talking about the improvement Demarcus made over the course of the year. Cal and the staff deserve some credit for teaching him how to play in the post. Good luck to the big fella.

Big Cuz became a real focal point for the Cats and was a lot of fun to watch. He improved so much, I can't imagine how much more he will improve over time. I can't blame him for leaving, ... I would probably do the same thing if I were in his shoes. I will be cheering for him in the league, that's for sure!

I thought there is no way he'll be ready for the NBA after the year... guess I had better keep my day job.

By the time March rolled around, he was ready to play in the NBA.

April 15, 201016 yr If he keeps his head on straight and surrounds himself with the right people, I have no doubt he will be very successful in the league. Congrats big guy!
April 15, 201016 yr Count me in that group. Mee too. He is among if not my favoite all time UK player.
