Wireman, I've agreed with everything you've mentioned so far. As 12th Region fans, you and I both know that Polson can play. I think his lack of "name recognition" might make some around the state question his ability. And I'm not sure if he would ever be a star, but I think without a doubt he can be a contributor over time in Lexington. And the way Calipari recruits, you need stability to go with the one-and-dones. Polson gives you that stability and a solid presence. I really hope he gets the chance at UK.

 

It's not likely he'll ever be a star. I think the question is how much he could contribute to UK in 4 years. If Calipari continues to bring in one-and-done PG's, Polson will never be a starter at UK. But, he could develop into a solid backup PG.

 

I think a steady, veteran backup PG would be a nice luxury. Someone like that would have helped with this team, IMO. Calipari could have rested Wall more and it would have helped when Wall was in foul trouble. A role like that doesn't look impressive in the box score, but I think of the times that UK struggled when Wall had to sit...a guy who could have come in and kept the team running smooth and efficient wouldn't have look impressive in the final stats, but I think people would understand how valuable he was.

 

I think Polson would have the potential to develop into a role like that at some point. :idunno:

I guess the pic of Justice didn't come across the first time... Both Justice and Polson are very good players, but there is a clear difference in physical strength... Hope everything works out for Polson at UK. I would like to see him there over the next few years to see how his game develops.

 

As a soph Polson was weak, but after playing football his Jr. year, he got more physical and tough. This past season he didn't play football, but he developed his skills more as a basketball player and it shows. With an opportunity at UK or wherever he goes, he is going to be a kid that will not cause trouble, has a strong academic profile, and will work hard to develop into his role whatver it may be.

I hear that not only are Mississippi State and UK interested in Polson but that Vandy has him on their radar now as well according to his fan page on facebook. Can anyone confirm that?

IMO, Polson needs to go somewhere where he will get the opportunity to play because it won't happen at UK. I don't think you can tell anything by an open gym workout because the other kids aren't playing nearly as hard as they will when it comes to real practice. If Polson was good enough to contribute at UK, Calipari would have been on him a long time before now!

Of course its coming. Based on his options, it will accept it too. UK loses 8 or 9 players and only has two commits to date before the signing period. I hope it works out for Polson.

He's a DII, NAIA player at best and if he goes to UK he will get less time than Hood.

 

If I'm wrong, I'll be glad to admit it but if the kid was anywhere close to being a UK quality player, he would have multiple mid-major oppportunities and I haven't heard of a single one?

 

If he wants to go to UK and be on the team, by all means take the opportunity. If he wants to play, look elsewhere IMO.

ALL schollys are one year He is an Academic kid, either way his ride is free. Four year kid, great student, will not get in any trouble, and after a couple of years he will get his minutes.

I read he could go to Georgetown NAIA if he wanted, that is a real good program were he would play. I just have the feeling it would be a waste for him to go to UK. Coach Cal is about the 5 and 4 star sexy players.

I know he is a good player, but havent seen him play a whole lot, I would compare him to Travis Johnston Grayson Co only Jared is taller. Some people like him better than his fellow 12 region Arron Watts, I personally like Watts and wondering where he is going to go to school at?

Watts has a baseball offer from Morehead State. I'm not sure what other Division I offers (and in what sport) he may have.
