Tonight in the 16th, Raceland Plays Elliott County and Russell plays Bath. Then the two winners play tomorrow night. All these games are at Russell. The winner of the 16th plays the winner of the 15th, which I believe is Pikeville.

I know in the 10th that Deming has no team so Silver Grove lost that game to play and was supposed to play Nicholas County instead...............But the coach decided :confused: that since they had lost to Nicholas in the first week of the season they would count that game instead of playing again...................Not a good message.......

In Region 1, St. Mary is the top seed, with Murray second and Ballard Memorial third. It would be a surprise if anyone aside from those three teams won the regional tournament.

No, it's not "expanded to bigger schools" if someone turns it down. You don't think schools around the state wouldn't complain about it?

 

The KHSAA website has Russell 129th in enrollment. Take away four single-sex Catholic schools (CovCath, Notre Dame, Mercy and Presentation) and that puts Russell in the top 125.

As a private enterprise separate from the KHSAA they can call their tournaments whatever they want. Too often people get the "A" in football confused with the "A" in basketball, etc. in this event. They aren't related in any way other than they are smallish schools. "A" in football is predicated on the number of other schools in 2A-6A as mandated by the KHSAA. "A" in basketball, etc. is a select number chosen by the organization to compete in their events with no intervention from the KHSAA.

I understand. The move to six classes in football has made it more confusing for the All A in basketball. When there were four classes, you basically had the 1A football class playing in the basketball tournament.

How does the number of classes in one sport confuse the others? Aren't cross country and track the only other classified sports? And don't those two only have three classes in comparison to the suggested return to four in football?

Bath County Beat Raceland last night 8-4 to win the 16th Region.

Danville wins the 12th, 20-10 over Somerset in six.
