Reds lucky to win this one. Cubbies double them in hits and leave 13 men on base to the Reds' 2. The good work by Micah gave Stubbs the opportunity to be the hero.

Homer didn't pitch that well, but ended up with an alright line. I'm becoming a Micah Owings fan by the minute.

 

Dickerson's bunt was perfect.

Bruce has been stroking the ball but hasn't seen much success. He laced one to RF the other night & had a great swing on a liner to opposite field...Ramirez was shading towards SS and was positioned perfectly.

Always nice to get a come from behind win late. Now I hope Harang can get it together today.

Hitters have absolutely no fear of digging in and crowding the plate against Harang. If he doesn't change that he'll give up 50 homers this season.

Francisco will swing at anything that doesn't hit him in the face--and he'll swing at that with 2 strikes. He doesn't need to be getting sporadic playing time at the big league level. He needs to be in AAA learning some plate discipline. Handling him like this is a good way to ruin a guy with a lot of raw power and talent.

Harang pitched well, aside from the two bombs he gave up.

I've never seen a team refuse to work the count more than the Reds of the last few years. Good things happen when you practice some discipline at the plate. Gomes got in a quick 0-2 hole in the eighth last night and ended up working a walk. Four runs followed.

 

I would like to see a change in hitting philosophy.

Wily Mo Pena had similar tools. Teams tried to let him learn the strike zone and plate discipline at the Major League level--look how he turned out. I'd hate to see it happen with Francisco.
