I'm speaking from solid ground. This discussion is classic of the debates on this site, those who believe in people being resposible for theirselves and those who need government to do even minor things for them. This is also a classic example of some not being informed on their on. With such info so easily available, but yet they need someone to do it for them. It then leads individuals doing nothing for theirselves and becoming dependent on the government to do it for them.

No, it's the difference between people who believe the government is there to help the people, and the those who think we should just pay our taxes and not get anything out of it. If the government isn't going to serve the people, it has no reason to exist.

 

What this is, is a classic case of commen sense legislation which will help countless people across the nation. It's giving people access to critical information that was NOT accessible in a real time situation. To suggest people should have to access websites when these impromptu situations arise, or should carry around pamphlets is just silly.

But, if you want to be sullen, miserable and cranky, by all means suit yourself. Just don't come to me when life goes on as normal for the rest of us.

Why is it that others seem to be able to? Not all, no, but most fast food or chains, yes.

You also seemed to miss my point about irresponsible people, and calling them fat slobs is a bit uncalled for if you ask me. The point is that people that frequent fast food chains, for the most part (by that I mean the overwhelmingly vast majority of them) aren't going to pay any attention to it all. It's wasted money, again.

I think it's a good idea, but I don't think that the government should mandate it. I also wonder how much $$ this will cost the restaurants, although that sector is one that can probably afford it.

 

It's just the principle of the government forcing their hand that bothers me. As a consumer, I like the idea behind it.

 

 

In the end it won't cost the restaurants anything. Patrons will get a few less fries or the cost of something will go up. In other words, we will pay for the calorie boards.

I don't think it's a bad thing. If you want the information, you should be able to get it. Many restaurants already provide the information on tray liners and/or posters. But to go the extreme of having restaurants redesign menus...there's more important things going on this country that need to be addressed IMO.
