Covington Catholic 2010

I'm a glass half full kind a guy. CovCath showed a big improvement from 2008 game vs the 2009. They cut the scoring by Highlands almost 60%. If they can do the same thing this year. That puts the Bluebirds in the 21 point range. You see it all depends how you look at it.:D

The great thing is that right now everyone is 0-0, and preparing their football team for a Championship run!

One of the great things about HS sports, is that from year to year big things can happen. May not be probable or even logical, but it does happen.

Well said and so true and it is always great to see any program make great strides from year to year. Even going from the worst to third worst or get on a winning streak and surprise a lot of people. Here's to hoping that the 2010 season holds great promise. AND some great surprises!

Very well put. :thumb: Your postive approach to high school athletics is much appreciated. Welcome to BGP. :thumb: :thumb:

WOW! That is so telling of where the program was just a couple years ago to where it is heading. Get rid of the Mafia and good things happen.

La Colonel Nostra is alive, well and living in Park Hills. :D

Yes.

Can't wait to watch CovCath beat Ryle!!!

There appears to be some major mojo flowing between Simon Kenton & Ryle.

Current 2010 Schedule (CONFIRMED):

Saturday, August 28 @ Lexington Catholic 8:30pm (Bluegrass Bowl)

Friday, September 17 @ Beechwood 7:30pm

Friday, September 24 @ Newport Central Catholic 7:00pm

Saturday, October 23 Dixie Heights 1:00pm HOME

Saturday, October 30 Louisville St. Xavier 1:00pm HOME

I'm also hearing talk of a "bowl" game at Nippert against Ryle on August 20th, a possible game against LaSalle the first weekend of September, and then the obvious district matchups against Dixie, Scott, and Highlands. Has anyone heard anything else?

Just wondering but have the Middle School CovCath Colonels 8th and 7th grade teams, been invited to play in the Bluegrass Bowl? Talk about a huge crowd at LexCath if the 8th & 7th Grade Teams played at LexCath prior to the CovCath vs. LexCath game!

The pregame tailgate party across the street, would indeed be huge!

There was another game right before CovCath played LexCath last year. I don't think middle schools are involved.

As far as I know of they haven't finalized the middle school schedules as of yet...although I'm double checking that with a couple of the coaches. That would be pretty fantastic to see the middle school guys playing in the same event as the big guys though.

I believe CovCath middle school will be hosting a pre-season set of games on Aug.14 and LexCath will be one of the teams.

Aug. 28 Middle school team will have a league game, so I do not think they could play in Lexington.

How will the team speed be on the defensive side of the ball? I have not heard much on this, but I am hopeful that our speed has improved over previous years
