Covington Catholic 2010

I think it would be a great idea for the middle school teams to play either before or after the varsity on a Saturday afternoon. It'd be pretty exciting for the little guys. I'm not trying to turn this into a middle school thread or anything, but does anyone know who what their schedule might look like?

LexCath plays CovCath 8th grade at 5:00 at CovCath followed by the 7th grade on Aug 14th.

Was he switching in at quarterback the year before then?

In 2003 he and Groneck both played qb. It was a disaster to not name one and stick with him.

Ahh, that's right. He was switching with Groneck. Thanks for the correction.

I get the sense that CCH is looking better right now than many thought they would earlier on. If this is the case, how do CCH fans think the team will fare in 2010? What kind of a W-L record do you see for the regular season?

Callahan was never the quarterback in 2004. He had been moved to WR at that point. I don't recall him ever taking snaps at qb in practice in 2004. It was Ellison's job from the get-go and no health issues were involved.

Thats right. But I will say this about the QB situation in '04, the best thrown/placed ball of the year was thrown by Calahan against Beechwood.

Without a freaking doubt.

I can't think of many qb's in recent CCH history who had the arm that Cally did. He showed it in college as well.

He's still playing for Berlin in the EFL, correct?

His season is over but, yes, he is still playing qb there.

If both Bir and Reese are being considered it will be interesting to see how Coach Wirth goes. One part of my brain says that he will go with the best passer (Bir) due to his running game being so strong. However, the type of offense lends itself to a running qb(Reese).

I thought Summe looked as good as Bir and Reese. I also think he as the best arm of the three. I know he put a lot of work in this summer on improving his overall game.

We can add Ohio U and Ball State to the list of offers for Troy.

Current offers are from Marshall, Kent State, Buffalo, Air Force and Murray State. Not Ohio or Ball State.

According to the Cov Cath Wikipedia page, they're the 2010 state champs. The Highlands fans will be heartbroken...

Any word yet on 2011?
