Is Highlands looking for a new QB coach?

Featured Replies

From what I heard Coach V is going to be at Miami Valley Christian Academy. As for the Jared thing I guess we will have to wait and see what Dale is thinking. Would he even want him to coach. I do know that him and Patrick are very close they talk all the time. I think he will make an ok coach but again we wil have to wait and see.

I'm happy for coach V and wish him all the best. Completely understand why he is leaving for a great opportunity. However, I will miss him and am thankful for all he has contributed to the program.

I feel that the Highlands coaches have great chemistry together. They work well together and I'm sure whomever they bring into the fold will also fit with the existing personalities as well as someone who knows their football. Great group of coaches.

Heck, maybe they will follow the lead of Coolage High and hire a female.:D:lol:

Just because someone played at a high level doesn't mean they will be a good coach.

Trust me Jared can coach just fine and the boys really respect what he has accomplished and what he can bring to the table. I wish my son had more time with him because he did a great job coaching him. Jared knows what it takes to get to the next level and can help someone like Patrick achieve his goal!!!

Good luck to Coach V and we appreciate everything he has done for our kids and the program.

Agreed. But, consider this. If Jared does come on staff to coach the QB's, he has a lot of advantages in place.

First, he is familiar with the system, and how things run. He doesn't have to reinvent the wheel out of the gate, and should have a reasonable understanding of the offense and concepts that HHS now uses.

Secondly, he will get to work with a bunch of good coaches around him. The line protecting his QB will be coached by arguably the best O Line coach in the state, allowing him to work on skills other than "run for your life" because protection broke down.

Lastly, I think Dale has done a fair job of developing the rest of the coaches on staff, which would benefit a good former player who was working to become a good coach.

All in all, it appears to be a good match of the right opportunity at the right time. Now, we'll have to wait and see if it comes together.

Are you really being serious! So would Jared be an upgrade or downgrade from what Pat T had. :popcorn:

Yes I'm serious. Can he coach? Simple question. We all know great players who had no ability to teach. I have no idea if he would be an upgrade or a downgrade. Do you just give him the job because he could throw the ball? Has he coached before? I would love to see him come on if he has the ability, but not just because of his playing background. I would hope he does have the ability because it would be neat for the players to have him around. I just don't know his abilities.

Have you applied yet? :D

Dale will meet this week with at least one candidate.

That's great then, that's what I wanted to know.

I've been told I'm over qualified.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

You have way too much "Sugar" in your Blue Cool-Aid

Congrats to Coach V, sorry to see him move on... all the best in the future. :thumb:

Great post.

Folks need to keep one thing in mind: Dale calls the shots. Not just on play calling (as Family Tradition pointed out, Dale not Vilardo called the plays), but on drills to be ran, who'll start at QB and every thing else involving the O. Not every position coach can handle that. If Jared gets hired and he can accept that simple rule, I think he'll do an outstanding job.

Vilardo's first name is Robert, not Randy as qryche mentioned. He was an excellent coach and put in more time than any coach other than Dale and maybe Brian. For that, I owe him my sincere appreciation and wish him the best of luck in his new endeavor.

I've been told I'm over qualified.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Classic!!!:laugh:

Sort of off the wall, but where is Kevin Siple these days?

Last year, he was at Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, but I don't know if that is still the case.
