I was thinking he would say that exact same thing.

I wouldn't think it would be that small, particularly at the top programs. Like I said, if he has the ability it's a great addition.

Who wouldn't want to coach at HHS , even if it is only the QB coach ? I would be surprised if there weren't many candidates standing in line for an interview with Dale. We all know Coach Mueller will have the final word on who will be chosen , and thats the way it should be.(JMO)

Agreed hbf. This is not pressure cooker type of coaching. This is mechanic type of instructions You dont have to be qualified one bit (not saying that JLO isn't, because I believe he is) to simply pass on to teenage boys instruction that has been presented to you from three different perspectives (hs, college and NFL). Just some really silly, silly comments from someone that obviously doesnt know much about the QB position or coaching fundamentals. And I am sorta offended as a former QB that someone would suggest that just because you can throw the ball doesnt mean you can teach how to throw the ball. Unbelievable.

Ya know, at the end of the day we QB's stick together, especially the good ones. 20n10

You might want to reread some of the posts above. It is quite obvious that both Will Bardo and Patrick Towles were getting private coaching from Lorenzen during the offseason. I also know for a fact that their is another upcoming QB phenom that he works with as well. Heck, that kids dad is a former NFL player to boot. So, you obviously have no clue what you are talking about or you have a bit of a personal issue with the hefty lefty and or you have your own personal favorite to fill the QB coaching position and thats not Jared. With all this said though, it still wouldnt surprise me if he was passed over for someone else for chemistry reasons. But pls my friend quit playing the "just because he played can he coach" card. Those are ridiculous statements. Ask Bardo and Towles. :thumb:20n10

Little testy are we? I don't know his coaching background which is why I asked. I said if he has the ability, great. I've just seen positions handed to people because they could play, then they turn out to be lousy coaches.

Don't know what that has to do with my post. I do think anyone would want to coach at HHS.

As unbelievable as suggesting that just BECAUSE you can throw the ball, you can coach.

BTW, if you look at my posts I never said such a thing.

Throwing the ball is over rated! Y'all ain't squat if the WR doesn't catch it!!

EASY all you pretty boy QB's.......it's just a JOKE!! Jeeeez!

Hey, no throwing or catching happens if the dogfaces don't do their job!!!

Yes I'm serious. Can he coach? Simple question. We all know great players who had no ability to teach. I have no idea if he would be an upgrade or a downgrade. Do you just give him the job because he could throw the ball? Has he coached before? I would love to see him come on if he has the ability, but not just because of his playing background. I would hope he does have the ability because it would be neat for the players to have him around. I just don't know his abilities.

This is what I interpeted the slam to mean. Doesnt really matter at this point in time. You have made your opinions clear as have I.

I think Jared or anyone else would definately help the QB's at Highlands. I dont ever see where one on one instruction and technique can be a bad thing no matter who it comes from (as long as it is correct instruction). I do wonder though, since Towles and others get private instruction from JLO now could there be a possibility that Dale just eliminates that position and gives the responsibilities to another coach already on staff. Its not like with Robert leaving that these kids are all of a sudden going to succomb to helplessness. Dale wont let that happen. I have seen Dale work with QB's before, he is a good Qb position coach.

Either way, the Birds and their signal callers will be just find for those who think that the recent loss will end the QB dynasty that has been going on for a very long time. :thumb: 20n10

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I can take the joke. But the defense has to get you the ball first before the dog faces can block so us pretty boys can throw it. 20n10

As per the bolded I was agreeing with you that there would be lots of interview candidates. (not a small list)

Fair enough, after reading the bolded it does sound like a slam which was not my intention. It was more rhetorical (sp?). I don't know JLO's background in the coaching area. Shoot, I wish he was still in the NFL. I agree that the right decision will be made, everything else is just offseason banter.

Agreed :thumb: See, QB's and Lineman can get along. We know who protects our pretty faces. :D 20n10

Don't know Mr. Lorenzen very well, so I can't comment on what type of coach he is/could be. I do know from watching him play in High School and in college he did some things, that most Qb's could not and should not do.

He was able to do it because he had an unbelievable arm, and great football instincts. For example I have seen him roll left, while on the run throw completely across his body, to a reciever across the field. I saw him do that on more than one occasion. He was able to do it because of his arm, and because of who he was throwing to. Not saying he would instruct younger QB's to do the same, but sometimes great athletes have trouble understanding why things they could do, can't be done by their pupils.

I am not a Highlands fan, but I truly enjoyed watching Mr. Lorenzen play the game. If he can pass along 20% of his heart and moxy, he will be a fantastic coach!
