Obama supporters - Are you happy now?

I wish this was passed a couple of years ago. Then my son wouldn't have been kicked off of my insurance plan while he was in college. He had to go without insurance until he got his present job.

They cover to age 24 usually if it's a full time student.

Other times I wish this had been in place:

When I was first divorced with two kids under 5, making $5.00 an hour and not getting child support. Couldn't afford health insurance, day care, rent, utilities AND groceries

When my brother was employed as a laborer, had a car wreck and landed in the hospital for a week, having surgery to repair his crushed ankle, unable to return to that line of work, and is still trying to pay off almost $100K in doctor's bills.

When my father had to make a choice to take his heart medication only half the time, then the third, because he couldn't afford the prescription and insurance wouldn't cover it.

When my sister and brother in law had a very bad year health-wise and exhausted their annual cap, leaving them with thousands of dollars in doctor bills.

When my brother-in-law lost his job, and their health care coverage.

Will this plan address all of those situations? I don't think it will but I'm not sure.

So what you're saying is...Now that this bill has passed, everyone will get better coverage for less money and we'll all have more money in our pockets?? I ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer RM but something tells me this is not Fantasy Island.

Doctor bills or tax bills, they're both bills that require money. Get ready middle class, we're gonna pay for it.

All jobs are temporary. Construction workers move from site to site so it is more noticable, but if people don't buy cars, car jobs are temporary. If they don't buy groceries, Kroger jobs are temporary. I know many people that have spent their entire careers in construction. Every few months they move on to a new project.

I am not real sure how to respond to this.

I spent 38 years as an active Union Construction worker . You are right all Construction jobs are by their nature temporary . When the project was complete you moved on to another one , either with the same company or with a new one who needed your expertise . You worked yourself out of a job ,and it was up to the estimators to find new work for the company .

I went without insurance for 8 years..........I payed $45 for a Dr. visit, almost always got samples if meds was needed and when I actually got put into the hospital and was being tested for Leukemia I got into programs because I asked and worked out payment plans........

I could afford health treatment when I needed it........but it also made me go back to school and finish because I wanted a better life for me and my son.

Now people are going to have to pay for fines or health insurance, whether they can afford it or not................no one is getting free health care you have to pay for it somehow so I really don't understand why everyone thinks even 26 yrs olds are getting free insurance.......the employer or your parents are going to have to pay for it......or my taxes that they are going to raise.

NOTHING IS FREE.............except for THE FREE LOADERS

Not temporary enough, he has assured himself as going down in history as the WORST PRESIDENT EVER ans his cronies will be infamous just like him!

Correct my son was 22 when he graduated from college. So he had to go without health insurance until he was eligible on his new job. He wouldn't have had to do that if this new law was in effect. As a matter of fact he could still have been on my plan until this year.

On a side note, I received an email from the DNC asking if I wanted my name on a list of members who wanted to be cosigners of the bill with President Obama. I said yes.

:thumb: The wool is being pulled over a lot of peoples eyes. Cost can't go down by adding this many people to insurance plans especially when the things that actually cost aren't even being addressed in this poor excuse of a bill.
Oh, they'll just blame it on the republicans, like always....

Wonder why that is?

I would be much happier if they had written a 2 or 3 page law to get that provision passed and thrown away the other 2400 pages.

I thought you had said he lost it while he was still in college.

Can't see how premiums won't go up. Just the pre-existing conditions clause alone will result in higher premiums.

I was 22 when I graduated from college as well.

I went without insurance until I got married (around 6 months or so).
