The biggest positive result will be many uninsured who are currently unable to get insurance will be able to get coverage. Medicare drug beneficiaries will get a rebate that will help close the "doughnut hole" in prescription drug coverage. Some small businesses will receive a tax credit to help them provide coverage. But perhaps most importantly as it pertains to public opinion, those of us who currently have coverage will see no change ... and that will be a big positive in public perception of the bill. That is why I believe when Novemebr rolls around everyone will say what is so bad about the bill. They will see all the good stories of people who were facing financial disaster and were rescued by this bill. I will be very surprised if this bill doesn't have a lot of positive support by the time November gets here.

I do think the positives will outweigh the negatives ten years from now because we will fix and improve things that don't work well. At least we now have a framework to build on and we are fixing clear problems in the current system. The best of the bill will be working in ten years. The worst of the bill will be eliminated or corrected during the next ten years. This bill is a landmark achievement for America.

I'm having a hard time thinking of a single program where this has happened. If things run true to history there will be less care at much greater cost.

The age was changed because the system would have gone under long ago if it hadn't been. It was a stupid system from the start and has continued to roll down a hill since. Increasing the age you receive benefits was like putting a band aid on a broken leg.

I only used that as an example of how bills can change. This health care bill will not be exactly the same in ten years as it is now. Bills and laws do change when we need to change them.

I understand that but to change something in a bill because it doesn't work is one thing as long as you fix the problem. The example you used with SS didn't fix the problem it just prolonged the inevitable.
