No it doesn't. Insurance spreads the cost of coverage for EVERYBODY out over a broader group of people so that it becomes affordable to EVERYBODY. It does not force you to pay for someone else's care.

 

With that argument, you are forced to pay for someone else's police force and someone else's roads and someone else's fire protection and someone else's food safety.

 

I would wager that it is more important spread the cost of health care over the entire population than it is to spread the cost of highways.

I can never understand why someone wants the government to do the work of what is either self-responsibilty or it is up to an individual or a group of individuals to help.

Bottom line is it's not our government's role to take care of us, not it's place to see to it that we all get health care insurance. That's something that's our own responsibility.

It should be available to all Americans and it is. Someone else paying your way should never be a right. A product of any kind should never be a right.

I'll sit back and read after this post, frankly, because I think that some of the argument here is pure conjecture. Not even the majority of the politicians who voted for the bill know (by their own admission) all that is within the bill.

 

If there is one positive out of it all, through all the lawsuits filed and that will be filed by the states will, if nothing else, cause them to take a hard look at everything from tort reform to insurance reform. I don't like the bill, but agree that changes should be made. I don't want them shot by a blowgun down my throat. The conservative bunch needs to get off their butts and not only oppose the bill, but come up with some solutions of their own. It's no secret that I detest this president, however, at least his health care baby has stemmed alot of dialogue that hasn't been there before about what is truly at the core of our healthcare problems. However, this bill doesn't address those.

The argument this bill is unconstitutional reminds me of these people who say our tax laws are unconstitutional and you don't have to pay taxes.

We all have complained about our health care for most of our lives. Rates go up every year, coverages go down and we all bear the cost of those who do not have coverage. This bill is not government insurance. It is a great first attempt at addressing one of the biggest problems facing all of us in today's society. The health care crisis is one of the main reasons Obama was elected. And now people are complaining because Obama stood behind his campaign promise and came through for those who voted for him by enacting health care reform. I applaud Obama making one of his campaign cornerstones reality and I applaud this great bill as a step towards making the USA an even greater nation.

If myself, Rockmom and RTS were to pool our money (if we have any) and start a health insurance company, shouldn't we be able to charge what we want, cover what we want and choose who we will and will not insure? Seems to me that in this country we should. Shouldn't we? The same goes for bricks, if we make the bricks shouldn't we be able to make the kind of bricks we want and price them at our price? Buy our bricks or not, the market will decide if we succeed. The government will be pricing bricks if this keeps going.

John Stossel has an article on townhall.com that is a rational reason for repealing the health care bill, money, or the lack of money. He writes about how Medicare and Social Security consumes half the government's budget and if things do not change they will consume it all. Also SS spent more than it took in in 2008. that there is just a pile of IOU's to pay for those now retired or planning to retire.

Sadly, some of the defenders of the health care bill pointed to what great programs these two are, ignoring that they are broke.

Nice fear mongering attempt but not accurate. The health care system is still a free enterprise with private insurance companies and health care providers.
