I have some provisional reservations about certain aspects of the bill as well, but I don't find it unconstitutional at all.

 

How is this any more unconstitutional than social aid programs already in place? If the rallying cry is going to be the uncostitutionality of the legislation, then I suggest they take on the whole kit and kaboodle, because this isn't the worst of all the programs we have in place.

For instance, Social Security? Everyone pays into it for one.

 

The government has no right to force you to buy insurance. That's unconstitutional. Please don't try the car insurance bit with me, we all know why that doesn't wash.

And all of those, except maybe Tort Reform are in the Bill. So what you want is to get what the MINORITY party wants ONLY, and you have to leave out what the MAJORITY party wants. In other words it would have been bi-partisan if the Republicans and gotten exactly what they wanted and nothing else was in the bill. The bill is bi-partisan and incorporates Republican ideas, it just has some democrat ideas as well - republicans were just not going to compromise. IT IS REALLY THAT SIMPLE

Not if it violates the Constitution, but the left has no problem with that.

Some basic changes is all that is needed, not wholesale changes.

Why tear down the house when some remodeling will do? But some basic changes would not fulfill the agenda of the left, government control and revenge on those who work hard for the money they earn.

While the dems will inevitably lose some seats this fall, it will not be the backlash some think. It will be the natural ebb and flow. However if Pres. O gets more of his programs passed then the dems might do even better. It will really all depend on how the economy is looking in late October. Good economy, not much loss for the dems, bad economy a bigger loss but nothing crazy. The healthcare reform will work against the repubs.

No matter what the poll the democrats are showing no better than 50% buying in. Healthcare reform has energized the republicans which I believe will lead to their taking over the House in November. With unemployment projected to stay above 8 - 8.5% for this year I don't think the dems will be able to count on the economy to turn around.

AAhh but you forget the other half which of course makes you even angrier in that they are at least attempting to offset some of the spending with new revenue (taxes). Which to me, if you are going to spend, at least try to raise the money instead of assuming it will come in when you cut taxes.
