March 21, 201016 yr Difference is everyone and their brother has talked about how susceptible UK is to an upset. I mean Bilas picked CORNELL over them for heaven's sake! Kansas meanwhile was almost every single person's representative for the Midwest Region, and many picks for champ. I went out on a ledge and had them out after the Sweet 16. Guess I was one round too late! I agree. Much of the talk was about how there was no dominant team like Florida or UNC from past years, and how the field was weaker. They also noted that Northern Iowa (or UNLV) could be a dangerous second round opponent...conversely, if you listened to the same experts, Kansas sounded like a lock. For example, Doug Gottlieb (before yesterday's games) said Northern Iowa could give them a test. Then he said Kansas would win handily, but handily vs. Northern Iowa was 10-12 points. :idunno: I was surprised that there wasn't a little more variety on the picks. Kansas was virtually unanimous. But, its hard to pick against the top teams. There's a reason they're one seeds. I don't have a problem with the analysts really. Just a little surprised that there weren't a few Syracuse, UK, etc. picks sprinkled in from the experts. And, honestly, I've been a little surprised at how skeptical most of them are about a team that's loaded with future NBA players.

March 21, 201016 yr Kansas reg. season vs. UK's reg season: lost at UT (both) KU lost at KState UK lost at USC. UK won at Vandy - Kansas won at Texas (both teams lost 1st round) talent edge UK slightly Schedule and wins edge KU slightly. Experience KU. Edge KU. As far as best KU teams, I'd say this is not quite as good as the championship team. Not close to the Pierce team. Pierce team didn't win it and they weren't overrated IMO, just had a bad night.
March 21, 201016 yr I don't personally think any team that makes the tournament is overrated. And no, I don't think they were overrated as the #1 overall seed. It's a one and done tourney. If you have a bad night, whether your the #1 overall seed or the #64, you're out, no second chances. It's not like during the season where a bad night can be overcome over the rest of the season. Overrated isn't a term I think applies to any team in the tournament. Just checking. I don't feel that Kansas was overrated at all. They just didn't show up yesterday.

And again, let me clarify that I don't consider Kansas overrated as a 1 seed, overrated as the overall 1 seed, etc. The only area I considered Kansas overrated was in the notion put forth by many pundits that they were nigh-unbeatable. If there is a bracket from an expert out there that did not have Kansas in the Final Four, I haven't seen it. It's possible that all the ones I've seen had them going to the championship game, I didn't pay as much attention to that. It's like on Selection Sunday, right after the Midwest bracket was released and most of us at home realized that Kansas had gotten royally hammered with that bracket, one of the guys on the show starts talking about how "that sets up well for Kansas". There was literally nothing in their minds that could get in the way of the Jayhawks winning this thing. THEY overrated Kansas.
