Will Louisville make a bid for 2011 Sweet Sixteen?

With the new arena and all or does Rupp Arena have it locked up for so many years? I may be in the minority but Rupp is just an old and depressing arena on the inside that hasn't been upkept by any means. Though never enjoying the ride, always liked the way Freedom Hall was designed, not a bad seat in the house and parking, well there is no comparison when compared to Lexington. I say let them have it one year.

I hope not. If they do get it, they'll lose this customer. I usually attend every session but I'd only attend sessions GRC would play in, if they make it.

I'd still go. I like Freedom Hall and Rupp Arena and if held in the new arena I'd likely go there unless they hike up the ticket prices.

When does the Ville plan on getting the NCAA tournament? I know one thing, I really like Freedom Hall but the S16 seemed to always struggle in L'ville.

Maybe for one season I'd be okay with it in the new arena. But, I know that had the teams I played on made the state tourney I would have been disappointed if we didn't get to play in Rupp. I think that is many kids dream in KY.

WOW kids dream? Back in the Day it was the dream to make it to Freedom Hall!

Nothing wrong with playing it at the new Arena, new dream for a new set of kids!

Keep it at Rupp. It ain't broke.

U of L will serve as host for first and second rounds for the first time since 1991 in 2012.

I agree. Much easier for me having it at Rupp, don't have to get a hotel room, can commute. But I am open to having it in Lousiville. Kids really don't care where it is played, it is the Sweet 16, they just want to get there and possibly win the state trophy.

Lexington has it until 2014.

Anybody know the dates next year???

I hear Rupp is hosting an NCAA regional next year which might skew the dates.

Rupp isn't hosting another NCAA tournament until the 2013 tournament. Those games will be opening weekend, so it shouldn't affect the state tournament schedule.

I respectfully disagree.

Playing in Rupp for a team like East Carter or Muhlenburg County(35 bus loads of fans) means a whole lot. I am not a UK fan, nor is my son who is currently a sophomore, but playing in Rupp would mean a whole lot more to him than playing in Freedom Hall. The mystique of Rupp Arena cannot be matched by Freedom Hall or the New Arena. Our current group of seniors had the opportunity to play/sit on the bench when the varsity team made it to Rupp 3 years ago. On senior night when the senior bios were read to the crowd, more than one said playing in Rupp as the most memorable moment and chances are they did nothing more than shoot layups and jumpers during warm ups. Like I said, I am not a UK fan, but even I can appreciate the history of playing at least one game with your high school team on the same court in the same building that so many legends have played on. Going for the tipoff with that huge UK under feet is a moment those boys will have for a lifetime and I don't think Freedom Hall registers those type of emotions.
