Lewis County is the feeder system of choice at present time for the Royals in 8th grade. Look for them to add Fleming County to that list and their dynamic 8th grade team if things start to slip a little after Setty(Ohio), Pawsat(St.Patrick), Harris(?), King(Bracken County), Lang(Ohio), Osborne(Lewis County) leave.:thumb::walk:

 

Give me a break. St. Patrick is a private school. If you don't pay tuition, then your kid must go to the public institution, which by the way is Mason County. Neal is a D1 football prospect. The last time a looked, St. Pat did not have football team. He would not have stayed there for that reason.

 

You have truely enlightened me on the success of MCHS basketball. I would like to personally think the powerhouse programs of Bracken and Lewis Counties for making the successfully run of the last 10 years possible. Without such great feeder systems and talent pools, Mason would have never hung two banners in the Fieldhouse. lol. :ohbrother:

One more attempt at a seating solution for the Mason Co gym -

What if you divide the gym at mid-court - each team, fans etc get 1/2 of the gym -with the cheerleaders on each end of the gym, the students (i.e. rowdy crowd) would be at each end, even carrying over to the corners of each side. I know there is an argument that the stage is not always used, not as good of seating, etc. But for the tournment it should be used. The area behind the benches would could then by used by fans of that team, hopefully parents and adults who aren't going to be as taunting as students. (and I think there is a place for loud student sections, they certainly do add to the atmosphere) I am not sure who the "Mason Faithful" are they won't move for the tournament, so I really don't know where they sit, or how many there are - so I don't know how to deal with them. If I had more information, I might come up a solution.

 

All of this discussion is only going to be useful if the tournament planners are reading this. So I would also suggest that anyone who has serious ideas about the tournament, send the Mason County AD a letter. But use common sense, don't rant and rave like we have on here.

The cheering sections would not be able to hear each other and it would pretty much leave the cheering section on the stage at a big disadvantage.

It is so strange to me how this thread seems to show the shortcomings of an older gym yet so many in Mason County feel that this is the 'only' venue that can hold a tournament.

Far away from what? In the pics on these posts it doesn't look that far away -and no I haven't been at the gym when the stage has been open, but right now the cheerleaders are in front of the stage - who are they leading?

The cheerleaders are in front of the stage but the bleachers are up on the stage and are far back compared to the other end. The stage is not the best seat in the house as you are far from the court. Sit there sometime and you will understand what I am talking about. Also, the lighting isn't the best back there on the stage. When you sit there you just feel like you are far away from the action.

Since these seats are so bad, they shouldn't even be used for the finals. 500 or so less people will lower the temperature, improve parking and shorten the lines at the concessions and the restrooms. That removes most of my objections to the Fieldhouse, so if this is done who needs to move to the BOK.

Mason sit on the other side for years until a several years ago. It was a very difficult change. At the beginning the of next year they posted a sign of the switch and the Mason peolpe figured it out.

I believe the regional football games are played on someone's home field. Is that not right? I have never heard one complaint about the finals of the Regional in football having HCA. What is the difference?

 

I personally think the difference is the endzones. I have known many players over the years that have said the depth perception is something it takes some time getting used to (when shooting outside) simply because you have a glass backboard with nothing behind it. Where most gyms have a wall or a a stage with a curtain within 6 or 10 feet of the backboard, there is just open space behind the glass at the fieldhouse when you are on the floor looking at the goal. Maybe that is one reason. At least when the teams go to Rupp they all have the disadvantage of the depth percetion issue.

 

In comparison, most football fields are the same and don't involve throwing a ball through a hoop that isn't must bigger than the ball itself. The kick through the goalpost doesn't have to be quite as accurate.

Both bences was in front of the stage. Home bench was on the scorers table side, visitors bench was on the other side of the backboard. If you were the visitor, you had to go in front of the Mason County bench to get to the scorers table.

Just had to bring this up because in the previous year's posts the hospitality room was such a big draw for having the tournament at Mason, but I haven't heard in mentioned this year. Was the hospitality room good?

Might as well give it up All In, they can't even see how they look to others. That 8th grade Fleming Co. team is holed up in my basement most every weekend. They will have to go through me to end up at either Mason or Clark. I would say a couple of them are already on their minds though:lol:
