I will not watch an entire late night talk show until Conan is back on the air. I won't even think about parking the channel on Leno. I might flip it on Letterman for a good music act, and if I'm up late with nothing to do the next day, I might catch Ferguson's monologue.

Never really been into watching any of them, but I liked watching Conan on Late Night when I was in college. Everything I've seen of Johnny Carson indicates I like him, but since he went off the air when I was in third or fourth grade, I don't think I'm qualified to speak of him.

Nobody can touch Carson.

No votes for Earvin yet? Come on...The Magic Hour was the best ten episodes of late-night television in my life. I hear they're trying to book Magic on Inside The Actors Studio.

Carson was the best, although my parents liked Jack Paar and Steve Allen a bit better. They were just a bit before my time.

Finally, a thread that almost makes me feel young.

Mine is David Letterman in his heyday, but it would be Conan now. Since it looked like an all-time thing, I take Dave. I'm sure Carson was better, and Dave would be the first to say so, but I was 9 when he went off, sooooo.....

Rub it in. And thanks for sending me plummeting back to reality.:D

Same here. I was 6 when Carson went off the air, so I can't really say he was/is my favorite, however, from what I have seen, I like his stuff.

Johnny Carson is the best ever, not even close.

Does anybody have any particular reasons why the do or don't prefer one of the hosts? Not looking for anybody to start any arguments...but what is it that you think makes one host "the greatest" of the bunch?

Johnny Carson is the best ever, not even close.

I knew a lot of people would say that, and I agree Carson was very good, but I'll take Conan over him any day of the week. Conan is the new Carson. Too bad NBC didn't see this.
