February 15, 201016 yr I'm waiting on the return phone call. Apparently I was on a long waiting list. Why the eye thing? This is the second time in 2 weeks they have had school w/ weather like this. Last week they were the only school in the area open. My kids were lucky and we drove them to school. I'm not a huge fan of watching 7,8, and 9 year old kids walking (literally) through a foot of snow on unclear sidewalks when they can just make the day up at the end of the year, especially w/ how bad the flu and sickness has been flying around the schools. Before you get too excited, the "eye thing" was for the sup, not you.
February 15, 201016 yr Before you get too excited, the "eye thing" was for the sup, not you. Sorry, I jumped to a conclusion. Seeing that kid walking on the sidewalk today by the YMCA sent me off. I'm not one to complain about having school and all that, but today was not the day to have it. I called to ask about the thinking behind having school today, and the woman who answered the phone (God bless her b/c she was getting bombarded by calls) said that she would add me to the list of parents who had called.
February 15, 201016 yr I told my wife this morning that I can wait to hear the Lawn mowers making noise!!!:ylsuper:
February 15, 201016 yr BF the road behind the dog looks pretty clear. Ft. Thomas doing a nice job with it today I guess?
February 15, 201016 yr BF the road behind the dog looks pretty clear. Ft. Thomas doing a nice job with it today I guess?Ft. Thomas has it's own road crew, and they usually do a really good job, both before and during a storm. Although we are fortunate to live on the main road (technically, a 2-lane state hwy.) through town.

I kept my kids home today. The Ft Thomas schools had to lose money today. I got reports that 23 teachers didnt show and they had to get 16 subs and that was just at the HS. Half the classes were empty so when you start counting butts in seats and funding and also what they had to pay the subs, I am sure it wasnt good. They were even making fun of it on The Wiz radio station. Will they be on an HR delay tomorrow? Stay tuned sportsfans.
February 15, 201016 yr Utterly ludicrous that Ft. Thomas doesn't close down on days like this. Do they think it's heroic or what? Some kid has a serious accident trying to drive on roads that aren't driveable and I hope they sue the livin' crap out of the school district.
February 16, 201016 yr Our road is like crap right now. We live on a connector road between Covington and Ft Wright. We have been shoveling all day long.
February 16, 201016 yr Will they be on an HR delay tomorrow? Stay tuned sportsfans. They actually closed school for Tuesday.
February 16, 201016 yr Unless you have any tests, I wouldn't go. That's ridiculous that they can't call school. I agree, it's ridiculous. :madman: Unfortunately, I do have a test coming up Wednesday so I had to trek to campus for that class. One class got cancelled, and I said the heck with my other two classes and came home. :thumb:
February 16, 201016 yr In 1977 here in NKY we had a huge snow storm. Does anyone remember how much snow we got then. I remember it all came at once but I can't remember how deep it was. I measured outside today around 5 o'clock and we had 13 inches. Something makes me think that in '77 we had closer to two feet. Does anyone remember that storm?

Some kid has a serious accident trying to drive on roads that aren't driveable and I hope they sue the livin' crap out of the school district. Coop on the channel 12 news at noon, they ragged big time on the school for being open and told of about a dozen calls they received complaining about the school being open from parents. They did a interview with the Super and he acted like having this much snow was not a big deal and he saw no reason not having the kids at school. Now I am all for kids attending school and not missing days because of snow, but those days are for our normal snow of 1 to 2 inches. There was no reason to have school Monday even if the kids can walk to school. Anyone wants to bet the Super doesn't walk anywhere in this type of weather except to his reserved parking spot near his office.:idunno: Now back in the day, we never got off for snow at CovCath, but honestly, I can't remember any big snows like we have had the last week or so like these storms have been.
February 16, 201016 yr They actually closed school for Tuesday. FT. Thomas schools always seem to be a day late and a dollar short.:idunno:
