The Bulldogs @ 17-5 on the season entertain the Rebels of Boone Co. on Tuesday in Covington. The Rebels bring a 15-6 record and are winners of 3 in a row including a win over the Ryle Raiders, the only 9th region team to defeat the Bulldogs this season. Holmes comes off an impressive shooting performance @ Highlands on Friday night in which they made 10 3's versus the Highlands zone defense. The Bulldogs have run off 4 in a row since losing to Ryle and coach Henley seems to be willing to let the Dogs push the ball a little more when the opportunity presents itself. They have averaged 73.0 pts a game over those 4 with victories over Cooper, Scott, Dixie and Highlands. Will the Rebels pack it in and see if the Dogs can continue their hot shooting or will they man up and try to be physical like the Colonels of Dixie Heights did last week in the near upset win in Crestview Hills?

I think Holmes will continue their roll and win this one, although it will be close. I say Holmes by 9

This will be a good game but I see Holmes being too much for the Rebels.

 

Rebels match up with Holmes pretty well size wise, but I think Holmes athleticism defensively will give Boone problems. Elijah Pittman has been playing very well lately and I see him being the difference. Boone doesn't have anyone who can match up with him down low.

 

Pittman scores around 20 and the Dogs pick up another big 9th region victory.

This is another interesting game. Boone has the potential to cause Holmes a lot of problems but they just haven't been too consistent this season.

 

Have to give the edge to Holmes!

Will Earls be available? I had heard he sprained his ankle against Ryle.

Who will Boone put on Pittman .... Trevan Brown? That could be an interesting matchup.

I'd expect to see the following match ups:

Rice v Montgomery/Lay

Pittman v Brown/Earls

 

Ricardo will likely be used against Gabbard defensively to keep him from penetrating but I'd expect Cotton to defend Rico at the other end.

This will be similar to the games like last year when Boone played stall ball for the entirety of both games...

I do think Boone needs to have two guards in the lineup considering the pressure that Holmes could bring defensively.

 

I'd like to see Brown get plenty of minutes because his rebounding, strength, and scoring will be needed if they can get the ball into him.

Both teams played a deliberate style last year in the half court offense in the region championship. I see Holmes trying to get out and run to get Boone out of that and speed things up.
