Oh thats not as bad as I thought. I still think the Cubs will struggle. Sure, on paper they could match up with anyone on offense but their pitching is nothing special and bullpen is average. This team is injury prone but if they stay healthy then who knows.

No doubt. August 6th they were tied with the Cardinals I believe. IMO, if the Cubs stay healthy they and the Cards will be headed to the playoffs.

If the pitching staff stays healthy they will be in contention perhaps right up until the September swoon. Agree about Bruce needing to be a major contributor. As for Dickerson in the 1hole, he can't be worse than what they've trotted out there in the recent past can he?

I'm more optimistic about this season's team than usual. On paper I think they have the makings of a solid team, but they have some missing pieces here and there. Not to mention a long drought of success. I think they'll finish around third, maybe as high as second behind the Cardinals.

 

Not to mention they must stay away from injuries and games missed from the pitching staff and Votto.

 

I would include they need big seasons from Rolen and Bruce.
