February 4, 201016 yr The best solution that I have seen is to have 68 teams. Four play-in games for the right to be a 12 seed. I couldn't agree more with the 68 teams, however I would do it so the plan in teams are the winners of the really small conferences and they play for the right for the 16th spots. Then there will just be more at large bids.

Then there will just be more at large bids. I like OR's idea better. The bottom 4 seeds earned their way in already by winning their conference tourney. Have the last 8 teams battle for the 12 seeds and lets roll. There usually aren't more than 4 teams who get the shaft. There would still be more at large seed like you mentioned.

February 5, 201016 yr You would only be adding three more bubble teams. So would you. The difference is I would leave the conference winners in the field of 64 rather than making them play in the play ins. I would make the bubble teams play their way in.

By expanding to 96 teams, all you are doing is satisfying those few teams that feel like they should have been one of the last few teams in the field of 64. The chances of a team from 64-96 actually winning the tourney are less than slim.

The chances of a team from 64-96 actually winning the tourney are less than slim. Which is why expansion is not necessary yet. Seriously, do we want last year's UK team in the big dance? Because that's what expansion does. It gives teams like crappy UK from last season a chance in the post-season, completely watering down the tournament. It'll be more like Kentucky high school football's playoff system, where all you have to do is put a uniform on and you're in the playoffs. With all due respect to gametime, who has defended Andy Kennedy's UC team from a few years ago, the vast majority of 20-12 teams have nothing to complain about when they don't get in. This is an insanely stupid idea that I'm sure will happen, because of money.

March 31, 201016 yr I know it is...but I still don't like it lol. They just showed a poll on Sportscenter that said 75% of those who voted wanted it to stay at 65 teams. The other 25% was broken up amongst an additional couple of options.

They are going to opt out of the final 3 years on the CBS deal, and the new TV deal will include expansion for the 2011 Tournament. Not sure how they will do the bracket yet...
