My thoughts are I dont really like the title of your thread. Toyota quality is unsurpasssed and definately is better than any of the big 3. I have owned Ford,Chevy, and Toyota and its not even up for discussion how they compare. Toyota blows the competition away by far.....

If you have read anything on this, the claims of the accelerator sticking could not be re created.

Toyota is taking a very strong stance on this and it is evident by closing the plants. Most would just issue a recall and continue building vehicles.

If I had to buy a Toyota with a bad gas pedal or a good Ford, GM, or Dodge, I would go with the Toyota 100 times out of 100!:thumb:

Toyota with last 2 recalls > Ford > GM > Dodge

My Honda Accord gas pedal has stuck since I got it new...still driving it!

Thanks for buy a Honda. :thumb: We make parts for them.

I have to agree with the above threads. I have had my Toyota over 9 years and, with regular maintainence have had ZERO problems with it. My two cars prior were a GMC and a Chevrolet. Both started falling apart after 4 years. I would buy a Toyota again in a heartbeat.

JD Powers recently released their quality survey which showed Toyota and Ford tied when it came to problems in the first 3 months of ownership. Cadillac finished ahead of both of them as did Hyundai.

IMO the gap is shrinking and Toyota is still living off of its past reputation(which was well earned).

From a non-quality perspective I find Toyotas to be about as bland as cars can be from a design standpoint. They've regressed in that area.

I agree with this. I think the Big Three have closed the gap on the Japanese in terms of quality, but the reputation still sticks.

I would buy a Toyota or Honda any day over other car brands. If you have a Toyota or Honda serviced on a regular schedule they last a very long time. We've bought new cars from other company's and sorry to say they just don't last. When we buy a car we drive them until they have to be junked.

Not that I have any facts to back this up, but I'm wondering if this would be because such a higher percentage of Toyota/Honda cars are now made in the U.S. as opposed to 10-15 years ago. I've never been all that big about whether the car I buy is a domestic or import brand, but if I had committed myself to buying a certain import, I know I'd prefer that it was actually manufactured in Japan.

We're currently looking at some used cars for my daughter and two of the leading contenders are a Mazda 3 and a Mazda 6. I was told by a fairly knowledgeable person that the Mazda 3 (made in Japan) greatly outperforms the Mazda 6, which is made in Detroit.

All cars last if you take care of them. I have an 02 Mercury that runs great. It will be a while before I replace it because its been a good ride.

A lot of Mazdas are still made in Japan, and they share technology and platforms with Ford.

No Toyota or Honda looks good to me, aside form the FJ Cruiser and S2000, both discontinued.

Clyde pointed out facts.

All cars do that, you get a lemon every now and then, but I'd be willing to bet less than 25% do regular maintenance............on any car.

As far as trucks go I like the new Tundra better then any if the big 3. But car wise I love the looks of the malibu, camry, and fusion.

Both are my vehicles are Hondas. The 98 car I sold to my brother in law when I got my new Accord was a Honda. I'll never buy anything else but a Honda.

2 buddies bought the new Tundra..........they both drive F150's now. Looks wise they are ok, gas mileage, power and durability wise its no comparison to Ford or GM.
