January 20, 201016 yr Seemingly the only thing missing from the Jets team is a passing attack. Could Favre have done for them what he has for Minnesota this year?
January 20, 201016 yr They'd have been better off this season. There's no comparison between what Favre and Sanchez can offer a team right now, and you can't possibly think upgrading that much at the most important position on the field could hurt a team. The Jets have some good weapons in the passing game. Big, playmaking receiver in Braylon Edwards, dependable all-around receiver in Cotchery, and a very gifted receiving TE in Keller. Favre under center would have allowed them to utilize those weapons to a much greater degree. Come to think of it, minus the QB's, the Vikings and Jets are pretty similar. JMO
January 20, 201016 yr Yes, they'd be better off... But I can't think of many things that I would find funnier than the Jets beating the Vikings in the Super Bowl. I'd laugh for weeks.
January 20, 201016 yr Yes. They have a running game this year and a vastly improved defense. Plus Favre has been healthy. But they can't complain with what Rex Ryan has done to change the mentality in NY.
January 20, 201016 yr Not really IMO. Here's why: The teams are extremely similar as 5wide mentioned outside the QB spot. If Favre were on the Jets, I think it's safe to assume they, not the Patriots, would have won the East. Assuming they won their 1st playoff game, in the Meadowlands, they would have been playing in San Diego last weekend, and would be facing off against the Colts this week, in a game they would be expected to lose. So I ask you this, how is that scenario any different than where they sit right now?

January 20, 201016 yr If we are playing that game... they very well could have beat out SD for the #2 seed and had a bye in the first round. Then you would be inferring that the pieces outside of the QB position of the Jets are better than those of the Vikings. I don't see that at all, and even if that were the case, they'd still be playing in Indy this weekend, in a game they were expected to lose. All I'm saying is, would they have been a more talented, better team? Sure, they would have. The end results most likely would be the same though.

Well Bret Favre did get the Jets to the same 9 and 7 record last year, on a Jets team that was not as good as this year. Their defense was nowhere near as great last season. So he got the same result as Sanchez last season, on a team that was not as good all around.
January 20, 201016 yr I believe the Jets would be worse off with Favre. Too many players questioned his dedication. I think that most would obviously rate Sanchez below Favre in talent at this point, but they are behind him. When unity no longer plays a part in the NFL, I stop watching. I stopped watching the NBA long ago.

January 21, 201016 yr Well Bret Favre did get the Jets to the same 9 and 7 record last year, on a Jets team that was not as good as this year. Their defense was nowhere near as great last season. So he got the same result as Sanchez last season, on a team that was not as good all around. Let me guess. He did it on a bum shoulder too.
January 21, 201016 yr Chemistry has a strange way of being good when you win, and the Jets would have won even more with Favre. There would have been no significant problems... UKMF made a good point. Most likely, the Jets wouldn't have done any better than playing in the AFC Championship game as the underdog. So, in that sense, they wouldn't be better off. If you want to consider the season as a whole, there's no doubt. The Jets would have been a better team from Week One, and rather than their coach saying they wouldn't make the playoffs with 2-3 weeks left in the season, they may have very well had a spot clinched. I dare say, underdog or not, the Jets would be considered a far more serious threat to Indy this week with #4 taking the snaps.
