North Laurel 2010

Wow, are you guys still bitter. Heck I heard you lost because the other team scored more points. I guess rockcastle could say the loss should have never happened either, but I am sure you think everyone should lay down and let you win because your Pulaski. We should have won, but we didnt. I am a fan of NL since Coach Larkey went there and look forward to coming to the NL/Harlan Co game. I am sure what he does is best for his program and not yours. Which is how it should be. The Titanic was never supposed to sink, but it did. Should have never happened. Just like Barren Co wasnt supposed to win, but they did. Things happen so get over it.
Well- I will say this, at least Rock is going to honor their two year contract and come to Pulaski this year. I don't think it is sour grapes to expect a coach to man up and honor his contract, especially this late in the game when it will be hard for Pulaski to find another game for week 0.

When is Pulaski's other open week?

It would probably be easier to find a game then.

Man up?

Keep dishing out these comments, its amusing.

North Laurel has some success for 1 year and they get more post on their upcoming year then Trinity, HHS, etc.

Keep to the topic, please.

So you think cancelling a game in Janurary for week 0 against a team that you owe a home game to is a good reflection on your program?

First of all, I'm pretty sure it wasn't "His Contract"...Chris Larkey was a first year coach, so I'd bet those contracts were already in place.

Second of all...ALL CONTRACTS HAVE BUYOUTS. When one team does something that terminates the relationship between two schools, you can get out of playing said school. Its not like teams just quit. They pay a substantial sum and also have to find another game...probably not a decision made lightly.

I just read that article from the commonwealth and the one from the season...

Coach Hines apparently ran his mouth and insulted the ADMINISTRATION of another school...not the staff, but the administration...well that pretty much is a reason to use the clause that lets you BUYOUT your contract.

Badmouthing the other administration (as Jonny Hines did) in PUBLIC in a NEWSPAPER because he couldn't control his emotions after he got BEAT is pretty much a good reason to tell a team to hit the road jack IMHO.

In fact, after reading what Coach Hines said on public record in the Commonwealth Journal about North's administration, It may not have even been Coach Larkey's decision. The ADMINISTRATION that was INSULTED may of asked him to drop PC. Who Knows?!?!

Dozens of teams buy out of contract during a two year cycle for various reasons. Maybe this coach will learn from this to keep his mouth shut next time.

By the way...whats up with them going after knox central in that article too...and did anyone notice that the Paper didn't interview or get comments from the other coaches involved? What kind of reporting is that? We didn't even hear both sides of the story.

It doesn't matter anyways Larkey will be working for his dad in a few years after he fails at NL.

Who are the feeder schools for North Laurel?

It doesn't matter anyways larkey will be working for his dad in a few years after he fails at NL.

He won last year. When noone else had. What makes you think he will fail?

It doesn't matter anyways larkey won't win at Nort Laurel and will be gone in a few years-maybe he can work for the paper, I hear he does a good job covering other teams practices!!!

The jealousy is gleaming off you and your comments keep losing any credibility you have.

What makes you say that he won't win?

He won more games this year than North Laurel has in 4 years combined.

Beat a Regional Champion

Beat a #1 seed in 5A

Beat a #2 seed in 4A

Beat a #3 seed in 5A

NL scored more points this year than the previous 6 years.

NL gave up less points this year than the previous 5 years. (Almost 100 less than last season)

NL's JV went undefeated

NL is not just a flash in a pan, they will progressively get better and better each year. Whatever AXE you have to grind at Larkey and NL, take it somewhere else because you have a serious problem of letting things go.

The article left a lot to be desired, such as not mentioned that the contract was discussed about not being renewed last season and I guess if NL really wanted to throw PC under the bus then they would've sent them a check in July and said find a game now. There are plenty of teams wanting a game in week 0 and 10 right now, but in July there wouldn't have been any.

Why didn't Hines want to play Rock freshman/JV for several years? It was because he got beat one year and refused to play them for about 10 years. Only 30 minutes away and wouldn't play because he got beat one year. Plus he wouldn't schedule varsity either. Why not? It was close and could have been a very good rivalry. Why wouldn't he do that? Does anyone know?

Wow, those are good stats. Didn't they loose a couple games real close too?

Undefeated in JV? Do they play good JV teams?

No not really, just Corbin, Middlesboro, Knox Central, Rockcastle County, Lynn Camp and others.
