Richmond has been known to not go after the best coaches from time to time and instead going after the guy they know or who is a nice person. I'm not saying this will happen or not. But there is another wrinkle in this job. Superintendent Tommy Floyd's son is on the team. And from what I know Floyd has coached before and knows a good amount about the game. I think he will play a role before its all said and done on who the new head coach is.

 

I've heard that there are a couple of local candidates from the Somerset area that he has experience with that are candidates.

Perry went to the playoffs under Jason Chappell, and before Browne got there under Searcy.

However, I do know that they years they made the playoffs, their record wasn't all that great, no matter who the coach happened to be. I do know that one year under the helm of Browne, they only won one game. To his credit, the next season they did host a home playoff game.

I believe their best record was 7-3 with a first round playoff loss (7-4 total record) the season before he left the first time. That was with Al Holland as his junior QB.

Thought I would add a point. A lot of people think Bert Browne will be the next football coach at Madison Central. I'm not saying thats right or wrong or a good fit or not. But if this is true and my educated guess is it is, I find it interesting that so many people know this and Madison Central has not even started interviewing for the job yet. And most of the reports I have seen are coming from people in the Perry area that think Bert Browne will be the next coach. How do they know this already? :sssh:

Boyle was a good football team. They proved to be the best 4A football team in the state of Kentucky this year, no one can take that away from them. But to say they handed it to Bell would be getting a little carried away IMO.

Boyle County won the game, and deservedly so. But Bell County is not some podunk program, ... they are solid. Boyle beat one heck of a team, ... whether you want to give Bell any credit or not.
