Strong compared to Highlands (NO) but very strong district for Eastern KY. As a matter of fact, there were not any teams in E.KY that you could say were really strong. Bell Co. was pretty good but Boyle Co handed it to them.

Boyle was a good football team. They proved to be the best 4A football team in the state of Kentucky this year, no one can take that away from them. But to say they handed it to Bell would be getting a little carried away IMO.

Thought I would add a point. A lot of people think Bert Browne will be the next football coach at Madison Central. I'm not saying thats right or wrong or a good fit or not. But if this is true and my educated guess is it is, I find it interesting that so many people know this and Madison Central has not even started interviewing for the job yet. And most of the reports I have seen are coming from people in the Perry area that think Bert Browne will be the next coach. How do they know this already? :sssh:

The district was not weak. The teams were not on the level of Highlands (but who was), but it was not a 'very weak' district.

 

I am not a fan of Browne's at all, but he has done more with the talent at PCC than any other coach that has coached them.

Perry went to the playoffs under Jason Chappell, and before Browne got there under Searcy.

 

Personally, I don't think he will leave Perry Central.

Nothing is a done deal. Strong candidates out there and interviews will happen in a couple of weeks due to some school scheduling conflicts. Heard the interview committee is making some reference calls before narrowing down the finalists.

Richmond has been known to not go after the best coaches from time to time and instead going after the guy they know or who is a nice person. I'm not saying this will happen or not. But there is another wrinkle in this job. Superintendent Tommy Floyd's son is on the team. And from what I know Floyd has coached before and knows a good amount about the game. I think he will play a role before its all said and done on who the new head coach is.

I'll just say this Mike Holcomb applied last time for Madison Central coming off the year where he won the state title with Haddox and he did not get the job. Its kinda a Richmond joke that he was not chosen.
