Great win for BBHS. Best game I have seen Armstrong play. Big scoring and great D on Lother.

 

Rieger is a real player, great off of the drive and finishes strong.

Code coached a great game, he made all the right moves.

 

Brossart played with big energy. It was a fun game to be in the stands for.

Congrats to the Stangs and coach Code. The Stangs seem to always come out fired up for this game.

 

Birds will be fine once they get the other 2 starters back.

Alot of Bird fans piling on Mustang Mom at the end of the prediction thread. In Mom's defense, the prediction thread was pretty vitriolic. For example,

They beat the Birds who were lacking two starters who combine for roughly 30pts a game. I dont know what else you want them to do. They beat a state ranked Mason Co team the night before.

Agree, and don't think you'll see any of the rational Mustang faithful beating their chests and proclaiming themselves the superior team, although they were last night. The two missing starters and their importance were mentioned about 50 times on the BB broadcast last night, so it wasn't a fact that was overlooked?

 

I'm sure Brossart looked at this game as a bit of a measuring stick, as many in their camp thought Highlands should have been a solid #2 in the NKY pre-season rankings behind Holmes? The fact that the 'Birds beat 10th region mainstay Mason County the night before, certainly added intrigue to the contest. Mustangs might be taking a little extra motivation early on this season, from their #15 "diss" in the early rankings as well??

The Mustangs took care of business last night. They are a quality team, disciplined, well supported, good kids, good families. I don't think their fans are making it anymore than it is....a good win. Sure HHS was a little short-handed and coming off a tough game but Brossart jumped them early and didn't fold late when the game got close. That is what you want from your team, recognition and execution of the game plan. Great win for the "Stangs" they will have a fine season.

Congrats to BBHS ! Been looking to see this game since the schedules came out and it was worth it. Jordan Armstrong brings the package. BBHS stands toe to toe in this one and took some shots in the mouth....fun to watch. Seeing Grubbs guard Zach Fardo (and guard him well I might add) was way cool. HHS gets back two starters and this team is super solid.

You certainly were right and the Birds got by a tough Mason Co team on Friday night with out them but just couldnt pull it off 2 nights in a row.

Nice win for the Mustangs. Armstrong showed great leadership. He played a solid game and wanted the ball in the 4th to seal the victory.

 

There was one instance in the game last night that reminds me why I gave up officiating years ago and how it has become such a thankless job.

 

When the game got close in the 3rd or 4th qtr., the Mustangs had possession on the left wing. The player with the ball started a strong dribble drive to the hoop. He was held by the on ball defender as he entered the lane, continued to the rim, drew contact and the ball went in the hoop. Both officials blew the whistle for fouls. The outer official had the hold, the underneath official was calling the shot contact. They conferred and rightly so, the first foul was called. I thought a few of the fans were going to come out of the stands. Standing, screaming, pointing at the official for doing what I would think they should hope he would do, call a foul on the Birds.

 

BTW, is there a reason why some nights you have 3 officials, and other nights you have two?

I have heard that 9th region officials have gone to 2 in a lot of places because it is cheaper
