We have this same thread at the same time every year. There will NEVER be an all state team where some very deserving kids aren't left off. It is a shame, but no matter the criteria or who votes, there will be disagreements.

Aahh, the truth teller question. The one that makes it harder to complain about someone not being on there. Of course it just sparks names being brought into the conversation, which could cause the thread to get ugly fast. CAUTION!

If you can't say who he should replace you can't make the claim that its absurd that he's not on the list.

I said last year that I thought Bardo was a better qb than Guidugli. I have been one of his biggest supporters on BGP. With that, no way he makes all-state qb playing only 5 games at the position. Based on the season, I'd put either Ryan Wilson or Erpenbeck in over him.

Not that it matters at this point!! But. I think your sats are wrong on Nichols. I think he had 26 catches for 500 yds. Plus he was ranked #9 in the state (out of all players) some considered him to be the #1 TE in the state. Ranked # 47 TE in the country by Rivals. Fugate is a very good WR but he is a true WR playing ball in an area of KY that does not typically throw the ball a whole lot. So I am guessing his stats alone did not get him over the hump. Considering they are team mates and good friends I'm sure that they support each other no matter who gets the nod. But I do think the coaches got it right in ranking Nichols higher than Fugate. I am susprised that Nichols wasn't 2nd team. But as already noted they can't make us all happy.

Its all in how you present it. I stated that I'm a big fan of Bardo. He simply didn't play enough games at qb to warrant all-state. He probably would have made it had he played the season out at qb. I think the kid has a future in college at the qb position.

He played six games at QB and just because he got hurt does this make him any less of a player. Your right it's not hard to shoot back either. Look at his stats if your into that. Every 8 times he touched the ball he scored. Six passing TD's, 10 rushing td's, 1 receiving TD and 2 kick-off returns. Take the passing attemps away and every 6 times he touched the ball he scored.

The kid only missed two games after injuring his elbow and came back to play another position. Most kids would have packed it in for the year but he wanted to help his team wherever they needed him.

I would agree to a point. But did you see everyone on the list play? If not then you must put some credibility in stats. Also most kids on the list probably didn't play much past the third quarter in over half of their games.

If you are wanting to put so much emphasis on "stats", then can you not put the same emphasis on quality of competition? Maybe the AP voters are more in-tune than we believe and feel that running up stats against class A competition isn't too impressive.

I agree with the Bold and you did a fine job with your comments. However when talking about kids I haven't seen play (except for the top players) it's hard to compare what your saying to what I would be saying about them. When you haven't seen kids play as most of the AP writers haven't it's hard to go on anything but stats.

That Dominque Haydens class A team won the state title in dominating fashion.

 

Bellevue won 9 games, but only 1 of those 9 wins came against a team with a winning record.
