KHSAA Board of Control Against Split

Cubster, you're laying down some pretty heavy claims here to not have any facts that support it. It doesn't really matter what anyone thinks, if you can't prove it.

I feel a suspension.

I am just saying that why do some good athletes shun public schools to pay to go to a private school?

Just answer me that question.

Trinity and X might do it the right way but when a girls basketball team has a major part of their team not even from that county that raises some questions.

Dare I say that their parents are willing to sacrifice for their own education. One of my best friends paid his own way to be a part of Trinity, and he was a 2 sport star.....

Well being a 2 sport star he probably not only got a scholarship but he was most likely getting paid as well.

Yes, public school kids receive a 100% paid government scholarship.

I would have to disagree with you on this statement, with school taxs, amoung all other taxes paid by us all, plus all the additional fees and etc. I dont feel it is a free gov. paid education. Hay if I could recieve my taxes back in a voucher and take the fees I pay then I could send my kid to any school of my choosing. While Im not sure where I stand on this public private split, because I can see the good, the bad and problems with things no matter what, I do strongly feel that I pay for my childrens education and not the Gov.

He drove a PHAT bike to school

Seriously though, he worked at Winn-Dixie, played his sports, and did the after school work program. Dedicated?

Amen sports junkie.

Hey, if they want vouchers great...but the strong would just get stronger..I will have to pay double when my daughter goes to St. Patricks, and also with my taxes. I ain't saying that isn't fair.

WAIT I am still angry that my son didn't get this "scholarship" thing that Cubster speaks of :irked: Hey RP can you check on this for me

How is it 100% paid when we pay school taxes? We pay for our kids to go to public schools.

I can't speak for Watusi but how I interpret this is that everyone's paying that school tax, regardless if your kid is going to that school or not. It's not free but everyone's paying it.

Maybe they're going to be a part of a really great tradition? Or is it that Catholic kids can't be great athletes?

Right, everyone is paying for it, its your choice if you send them to a private school. People who are sending their children to the private schools chose to do that, great, you can't complain that it is a high school scholarship though when the people that are sending their kids there are paying for it thru taxes.

Agreed.

They would not sell out or come close.

I am not sure you can do a "back of the envelope" calculation to determine if there is a model for how this would work for non-public schools. There would be a lot of factors I am sure.

Agreed, this is a very simplified scenario, but I don't know who else you could put in the large school bracket. I am not so sure that they wouldn't fill up Poppa Johns'. X and T had about 25,000 at their last championship meeting, and I would think that LC and CC could bring an additional 10,000 to 15,000 fans. If the proceeds were going to the participating schools, I am sure the fans would be there in force, if for nothing else but to show up the powers that be.

Personally I don't think the KHSAA board will let prop 20 happen, but they will throw the public schools a bone of some sort.
