The Louisville Fire Department. I've considered doing this the last two times they were hiring, and finally pulled the trigger. I really want this, so I'll have my fingers crossed over the next month or so. So we'll see what happens!

Start running and lifting something. Three stories up a flight of stairs carrying this hose on your shoulder. A mile and a half run, lifting ladders and carrying them. I did this 20 years ago and its changed some, but you can do it, and Good Luck. Oh yeah I know several people who are and PM me if you have some questions.

Thanks for the well wishes. Like I said, I'd really love to get in. It's an awesome career, IMO. I am somewhat partial though, my dad is a fire fighter in Frankfort.

Good luck. I'm a 25 yr. veteran FF in Ashland and a word from the (not) so wise. You'll need to be in top shape to pass the rigorous physical testing procedure. Strength and endurance are the key.

Good luck deuce. One thing I noticed is that you have two former fire fighters wishing you the best, and they both stressed being in great shape. Might as well go get a gym membership while your at it.

Good luck, Deuce!! I have been a Volunteer FF in Greenup County for 10+ years, and I admire you for going after this career. The paid FF's on here are right. You will need to be in awesome shape for the physical part of the test, that's for sure. I wish you nothing but the best, and if you do get it, please be safe.
