It is irrlevant who played who and how often and where at, blah, blah, blah.... It doesn't matter who anybody had to go through to win each title or how often it happened. The bottom line is that T won more championships this decade than anybody else in the state. That makes them the team of the decade IMO and does not take away anything from any other program that has success the past ten years. Trinity's was just a little better.

Just beating the other school with the huge enrollment advantage? Heck, Trinity and St. Xavier should dominate the class.

I'm sure they wouldn't, especially if they had to play them with about one-third (or less) of the enrollment.

 

Highlands won five state titles this decade, at least three of them while playing up in class ... a much more impressive feat.

I believe all 5 were while playing up in class. In fact, when was the last time HHS didn't play up?

I think some people are confusing "most impressive" with "best." The thread asks for Team of the Decade, and to me, that means best overall program of the decade. Trinity has won 7 titles, which is 2 more than any other program. Also, those 7 titles were all won in Kentucky's largest football class. I think it's hard to argue that Trinity has not been the best overall program of the decade.

 

Now, a debate over whose program has had the most impressive accomplishments over the past 10 year may yield a different result, but come on, Trinity has been "the best" program, in my opinion.

 

I'm hoping that another team can lay claim to this distinction in the next decade... perhaps a team whose colors are blue and white and whose mascot is covered in feathers...

Ft.Thomas has a population of about 17,000..Plus a ton of kids that live in Ft.Thomas go to NCC as well...:thumb: I almost forgot that they play up 2 diviesons also...

 

It would be more impressive if everyone that played on one of those state champion teams were one of the 17,000 that live in Ft. Thomas.

As a tiger fan, I have to begrudingly agree with Trinity's impressive run. Ouch that hurt my fingers to type! Congrats Shamrocks!! I would like to take the opportunity to gang up with my fellow 6A school against those select Highlands fans who chose to play pirate on a thread about another team...surprise surprise!! Your school chooses to play up so either play up and stop pointing it out or play down and continue to bark. T and X could eliminate our 1200 or so students that don't have an athletic bone in their bodies, sprinkle in some coed cheerleaders and play 1a-5a and resemble a little school that is located in northern Kentucky. Everyone knows Highlands is good. We are well aware they play two divisions up and made aware of this on every thread that involves the word football. What percentage of ur male student body plays football? Probably off the charts. It's a football school with great tradition. Kids go there to specifically play football. Just like X and T. But the argument about size is played out and so is having to discuss the birds program on every thread. To the birds fans that read this who don't feel the need to highjack every thread...thanks for your decorum!

They do NOT go through St.X every year either. I dont care about numbers or classes. Trinity and St.X cannot win a state championship without going through one another. That is why Trinity's 7 titles in 10 years is THE MOST impressive. Twist it how you want, say what you feel, but the truth be told, Rocks are the class this decade, hence the title of the thread.

 

The only thing this comment will get you is more people to point out that for either team to win state they at some point more than likely have to play ONE other school with 1500+ males and a huge "feeder system". May be better off not pointing out this kinda stuff, atleast not for this type of argument.
