If UC would have lost today I have a feeling that BK would be gone. With that being said, he's done more at UC the past two seasons than ND has done in 20 years. What he's done in Clifton has been tremarkable.

 

I think he has done as much as he can at Uc. He goes undefeated and still not playing in the national championship game. He does that at ND and odds are he is playing in the title game.

Notre Dame has probably been sending out feelers through 3rd party sources to a variety of coaches for an extended period of time considering what Weis likely faced in keeping his job, especially when things started heading south.

I would imagine there have been quite a few nibbles on that line.

The job has its lure through prestige, tradition, and the like. However, a lot of that doesn't resonate with recruits of today. Kind of like the tradition of UK in hoops...those banners hanging just arent the appeal as they once were.

There are a lot of people out there that dont think the ND job is that great because of the admission standards, lack of conference affiliation or whatever...but it still has that national appeal.

Stoops was probably nibbling all over it...through 3rd party sources, and I think BK is nibbling on it, without anyone else knowing about it.

That is what those search firms are hired to do. Is ND using one, I dont know?

There was an article in ESPN The Mag, a few months back detailing much of how that operation works. Heck, in the article, they talked about how OTS's people were interested in Minnesota job as early as January of his last season.

I would find it very hard to believe that BK or a few other coaches have not been contacted by "ND people" over the last month, in some form or fashion.

I would think this process is farther down the road from the ND standpoint than many believe. Were they ever going to hire and announce someone by this day....I doubt that, still too early unless it is a coach whose season is already complete, or it is an assistant coach.

There is a lot of appeal and enough to scare perspective coaches.

I think BK is the perfect fit for ND.

Is he the quintessential hire by ND standards...who is to say. I mean I have seen the "pro-choice" stuff out there, his statements after a few of his players were involved in a major crime (or something like that at CMU/GVS)...there was that supposed baggage he carried which kept him out of the MSU and UM jobs.

I think hiring him at ND is the best option for ND...if they want to get back to where they were.

I'm sorry, but I find this laughable. GT, I know you follow the UC program as close as anyone, but why would you think that BK would tell you if he or his people have spoken to ND? I'd say that would be something that he'd not share with anyone with media ties until it was a done deal. As for the phone thing, was his agent on the bus as well?

My buddy who is a ND grad says that Stoops didn't work out because of MONEY. Leads him to think ND is strapped for cash. So not sure they can get for 1.5 - 2.0 million.

ND finishes the year 11-1 or 12-1 and they are in a BCS game.

Also if you go undefeated at Notre Dame, you probably won't get left out of the Title game. I mean it would make perfect sense if he left to Notre Dame. He could say I didn't everything I could at UC, we went undefeated and wasn't even given a chance to compete for the title. Any coach would want to win a title, and that shows it really don't matter what UC does they are not getting a fair chance.

Here's another difference. BK has just lead UC to an undefeated season. Great right? Some hoopla around here and some nationally. How about the guy that leads ND to an undefeated season? He will be perched right next to touchdown Jesus. It would be unbelievable for that guy. Oh yeah doubt if that coach looks to leave after that season. There are a ton of reasons you would rather coach at ND than UC. :thumb:

They were talking during the BCS selection show on Fox earlier like Brian Kelly had already moved his stuff to South Bend-not literally, are they reading too much into the comments he made yesterday? Or is there some merit to the rumors now?
