Not at all. When I post speculation, I make it clear. Same with things I know for sure. When I have info that is one sided to UC, I make that clear. When it is national info I do the same.

 

Now that UC has finished the regular season BK will listen to what ND has to say if they call. I know from a national source that BK and his agent have not had any type of contact with ND. If that contact happened on the bus ride back from Pitt and a deal is now done, the ND message board poster you are following is a lot more connected than me...

I think GT is right at this point... fresh word is ND is not close to naming a coach.

If I couldn't get Urban Meyer-who after the loss in the SEC title game would be apt to leave IMO, or Brian Kelly, I'd go after Butch Davis. He recruits better than anyone in the history of college football, he's a solid defensive coach, he has a great resume of bringing struggling/down on their luck programs back from the dead, and would do better than any coach apart from Saban, Meyer, and Brian Kelly.

I can tell you WITHOUT QUESTION that BK nor his agent have spoken with anyone at ND or any third party back channel representing ND. So these "sources" are "claiming" that BK was on the phone hammering out a deal while he and his team were busing it home from Pitt. That's funny...

There is some back channel chatter with Kelly and people from ND, just as there are backchannel talk with ND and other coaches.

A lot of this stuff out there is people throwing things out and trying to get them to stick...but there people are in contact with his people as well as others.

Paul Daugherty even said one of his peeps said that BK was politicking for the job, behind the scenes.

I wish ND would take Butch, he's one of the top recruiters in the nation. What he did at UM was remarkable, he took a program in shambles and did all he could too fill out a roster while on probation. He had plenty of guys on track schollys who were ripping it up on the gridiron. I believe one of those recruits was Ed Reed. Now when it came to game day decisions I questioned him a bit but he handed off a nice group of players to Larry Coker.

If UC would have lost today I have a feeling that BK would be gone. With that being said, he's done more at UC the past two seasons than ND has done in 20 years. What he's done in Clifton has been remarkable. His GV St. teams were phenomenal, then he comes to UC and in a month he leads UC to a blowout win in the International Bowl. I hope he stays but I wouldn't blame him for leaving but the grass isn't always greener on the other side. The foundation has been set for UC, Dantonio started it and BK has put them right up there with the traditional powers. If he does leave I'm sure Mike Thomas will have plenty of able up and comers to keep them in the BE hunt.

I have my moments of finding it hard to believe as well, but this main source is as connected on both sides on a national level as anyone can get. I could run with a ton of crazy stuff that I got today down on the field, but this info is what I am the most confident with based on the long term stuff I have been given.

 

BK and/or his agent could very well be on the phone listening to what ND has to offer right now, and I would not be shocked one bit. If he took the job in the next 7-10 days after those talks I would also not be surprised at all.

I'm sorry, but I find this laughable. GT, I know you follow the UC program as close as anyone, but why would you think that BK would tell you if he or his people have spoken to ND? I'd say that would be something that he'd not share with anyone with media ties until it was a done deal. As for the phone thing, was his agent on the bus as well?

 

He may not head to ND (I sincerely hope he doesn't), but I'm not believing all the smoke that is coming out of the UC camp.

Chicago Sun Times reported the coach may be named as soon as tomorrow.

Then they pulled the story when it was shown they were wrong.

I am beginning to believe the national media have no idea what they are talking about.

Sometimes I wonder if the national media's sources are the custodian that cleans the offices.

My buddy who is a ND grad says that Stoops didn't work out because of MONEY. Leads him to think ND is strapped for cash. So not sure they can get for 1.5 - 2.0 million.

I can't see that being the case at all. I don't think money would be the issue.
