Brian Kelly will be next Notre Dame football coach

 

Brian Kelly will be the next head football coach at the University of Notre Dame, informed sources tell IrishCentral.

 

The source, who is a well-informed person of influence at Notre Dame, says the Cincinnati coach is the preferred choice for the job, and that he is expected to eventually sign a deal.

 

Kelly is expected to see out the season with his Bowl Championship Series-bound team, and then report for duty at South Bend.

I've thought he is the logical choice for ND for a while.

Some one please check all the Northern Ky. bridges for gametime.

They, like everyone else at this point, are guessing and trying to get it right to look like they have inside sources that don't actually exist.

 

I've said all along that BK was at best 4th and closer to 6th on the list. Meyer, Stoops, Patterson and Farentz have all said no to this point, so if it is BK I will not be surprised. That said, the headline and the wording after the title tell different stories...

If BK leaves I think Jones is the clear cut choice for the job IMO...

The only other story on the ND search on that site? One insisting they hire BK right after Frontbutt was fired.....

GT do you think that he has any interest at all in the job? He said on the radio that he wanted to stay at UC and build up the program. I want to see Kelly at ND, but not if he's going to go back on his word. I have a feeling this is just hearsay for now.

Remember the radio interview was with a rock station morning show that has never taken itself very seriously. He's on the show once a week and it is usually just joking around and not your normal interview. Once again ESPN had no clue of the context of the headline they were running, but took it as some serious sports talk interview and ran with it.

 

I think BK is interested in ND, but the level of interest is not yet known. With the guys higher on the list all turning them down, it is looking more and more likely that BK will be the guy but there is still a long way to go and BK and his agent are still working on a new deal with UC as recently as today...

It's not even a ND site. It's a site for Irish Americans that pretends to be connected to ND. They have more stories about some Irish guy going for the WWE Title than ND football... :lol:

Yeah, I had only seen it in text, but I went and listened to the radio conversation and I wouldn't take it too seriously either. BK would be a great hire for any program, IMO he is an elite coach.

I agree with GT, I don't think this is accurate. Anyway the Stoops deal from what I've heard is done.

BK is an offensive Guru..... a bold man as well. He is the kinda guy you want to have on the face of your program but believe it or not I believe if he beats Pitt Friday night, it will be the first team he has beaten a top 15 team.

I understand that. I just think he has something about him to where you just know he's a good coach. It may be fools gold though I suppose.

0-3 at UC going into Saturday. WVU year 1, and Oklahoma and VT last year. That covers it, right?

 

The reality is UC simply did not have the depth to consistently win at that level when BK got here, and even though it is developing now in year 3, it is still a work in progress to beat the elite programs just yet. That's why he said he could beat a UF or Bama in a one game shot, but the program was not yet good enough to compete in a league like the SEC week in and week out. Do you think you are making some huge revelation about his time at UC? Really???
