I just think that you can't bank on there being jobs in the future. The more an offense is ran in a conference, the better teams defend it. Look at Spurrier's Fun and Gun in the SEC, even how much UF has had to change their offense at UF in Urban's tenure. You have to strike while the iron is hot. There is no higher profile job than ND. The bottom half of the roster doesn't have to be garbage IMO. If he can get top talent, he can get the roster fillers as well. ND with the right choice could get some Florida, Texas, California and a few other states talent, there is more than enough talent around.

 

It doesn't have to be a death trap. Same was said about UK basketball, but look at Cal. Expectations are high, but the right man at either job can make it into a great one. JMO, and I respect yours and see where you're coming from SSC.

 

I would never fault him for taking the ND job. I just think he'll do better. He has already proven he will adapt his offense depending on who is running it. If he stays for two more years he'll get a better job. Just b/c ND is probably the highest profile job doesn't make it the best is my point. I understand yours though. If they win 9 games next year and 7 the next he'll always wonder why he didn't bolt when he could have.

There is no sure thing and that's why I think he should leave. Coaches work their entire lives to get a high profile job like ND. There's no guarantee he will ever get another job like that. To me, it's just like passing up Jennifer Love Hewitt just because you think you can get Jessica Alba. JMO, but different ideas are why some coaches stay at a job and some leave, so it's all good.:thumb:
