Didn't really like the outcome, but it was a very good football game. So many this year!

You are right, there were plenty of exciting games to choose from this past season.

Hey, if we're talking about "calendar year", then the KY all-stars over the TN all stars in January's Border Bowl was pretty darn sweet. Highland's had Oliver Head score a TD, Adam Dempsey as the Defensive MVP and Tony Guidugli as the game MVP!!! Always nice to whip the TN boyz...right UK? (LOL)

Not even close to me. Last nights 13-10 last second fieldgoal win over defending State Champion Bell County to advance to this years State Championship.

 

While not my favorite game with Bell losing this one was definitly the best game I have seen all year. When seeing 2 teams that talented and evenly matched go at it, it makes for an amazing game.

How about the Highlands-Male scrimmage this year?

I have never witnessed such a tremendous atmosphere during and after the game, before this game. It was really great to be able to go on the field and mingle and talk with the players and coaches after the game! Not many wanted to leave the stadium for quite a while

For me, although I didn't get to watch, it was Grayson County beating Warren Central for the 2nd straight year. Only 3 years ago, this was unheard of.

Henry Clay/Bryan Station in the playoffs, both teams were extremely fast and hit hard all night. Great game watching both defenses trade knockout blows all night. A great goalline stand, 2 missed FG's including one off the upright that sent the game to OT and a missed PAT to seal it, very exciting.

I was looking for something else and found this thread. It's kind of funny looking back and feeling like the Boyle/Bell game from 2009 was the greatest game I ever watched in person only for it to be trumped by the Boyle/Lone Oak game the following week for the 4A State Title. The two best games I have ever seen. By far.

1. This thread is 'the most exciting/favorite game you watched this year(2009)'. 2002 6A title game doesn't fit that criteria.

 

 

2. I was just pointing out that all of us Boyle fans mentioned the Boyle/Bell game when in all reality the Boyle/Lone Oak game topped that game.

 

3. As great as the Male/Trinity game was it will never top the Boyle/Lone Oak game, in my most humble opinion. Down 29-13 with 8:30 left and then tied the game as the play clock expired on a 43 yard field goal with 6 seconds left and eventually won the title on 4th goal in double OT for a 42-39 victory? Sorry, nothing will ever top that for me. Not even Brohm/Bush.

 

It's all good though, I know most consider the Bush/Brohm tilt to be the best game ever. The best game I saw in 2009 was Boyle/Lone Oak and I look forward to the game that tops that game for me. I'll make sure I get out more to find that game.lol

Best game in NKY this past season ? How about Ryle/Highlands at the end of the regular season. Why? well for starters, how about it being so rare that a NKY team is able to come away victorious against the most storied high school football program in the commonwealth. A well played hard fought game. Excellent coaching on both sides and tough, gritty, disciplined football. A pleaseure to watch. The down side for the Raiders was that after that game, that teams around the state saw that game on TV, Ryle could not fill out their schedule without going to the likes of Colerain, and Columbus DeSales

No argument from me on that one. Would have loved to have seen a Boyle County/Ryle matchup but I understand why there won't be one this year. Maybe sometime on down the road though. Good luck this year.

 

I think the best game I saw this past year was probably the second Boyle County/LexCath game. Watching Kyle Bolin is a treat.
