296-204, Manual rushed for 276. Manual really controlled the clock and battle of field possession. SK's first 1st down came with a little over 4 minutes on the first half clock. Miles down the stretch played great, finished with 137 and 3 scores after being shutdown in the first half. Manual has a bright future, tons of underclassmen on the field and #92 is only a sophmore, he's going to be heavily recruited. The interception return by Kaiser was huge. Manual has the ball first and goal from the 2, and two penalties later they are on the 12. Kaiser jumps the route and 94 yds later SK was up 7-0. SK will have to play much better next week.

Nice wins tonight by SK, HHS, and X. Can someone tell me why the Ryle/X thread was shut down so early? One can only assume things were getting nasty there. The only thing I have to say is that the larger private schools should dominate and they usually do year in and year out with a few exceptions. I believe on average X and Trinity have double the male population that any other 6A school in the state. I mean c'mon man, is anybody really surprised by these scores? It's just the way it's always going to be until there are changes made within the state of KY. Like it or not, it is what it is.............just one question for the X and T fans.............Don't you honestly think you have a huge advantage over the public school system? Please be honest. I picked X to win it all, but it's not like I was going out on a limb.

Great game and effort by Manual and Simon Kenton.....I've said this before and I believe it still, I think Joe Nichols has taken this program as far as he can.......I don't know who would be next to take them higher, but I think the time is coming. Coach J at Ballard could boost them.

 

That axe you have to grind has got to be SHARP by now. You spend alot of time worrying about Manual and Coach Nichols. In case you might not have noticed (from all the sparks flying off that grinding wheel) this thread was about the Manual at Simaon Kenton game, not Mike Jackson being your suitable replacement for Nichols at Manual.:thumb:

 

It was a good game and a game of two halves, Simpson got a big K/O return that seemd to "energize" him as he reeled off a few good runs late in the third and into the fourth quarter. A couple well timed pass completions on third down extended SK drives and led to the eventual win. This should make for an interesting game next week but I will have to keep my prognostication to myself, for now.

Good call Pete, I also believe the KO return by Miles was a turning point in the game. SK got a little bit of mo after that but the Crimsons wouldn't quite go away.

I would be absolutely shocked if SK gets 40 points.....Actually if my right arm just fell off my body, it would shock me less than SK scoring 40 on X.

The fact that St. X has 5-6 starters getting back in the rotation is huge. The past month they have developed more depth than was thought possible early in the season. Prime example: their best runner Jeremiah Neal started playing linebacker with all the injuries. The offense has not missed a beat with McMurry, Montano and Hayden all displaying incredible speed. The offense literally exploded last night with a 49 point outburst after falling behind 10 -7. They even had J. Hayden leading the Wildcat formation. Neal has been fabulous at linebacker! Now he should get more carries. Brohm has improved immensely, he is throwing like his famous cousins. Buehner was stellar last night too. Ryle could not keep up after a very good first quarter. If Simon Kenton has a lot of players going both ways it could be a long ride back to NKY. St. X plays fast and just wears you down!

I have to agree with RP on Nichols (no axe to grind on my part). He has done a very nice job at Manual but just can't get over that hump.

 

Sounds like this game was very exciting.

This was the best game I have seen in many years. :thumb: Manual played a great game. I'm still trying to figure out why they kicked off to Simpson. His big run back seemed to be the game changer. Good luck to S.K. My son went to the Ryle vs X. He said he's never seen speed like that in high school.

Did Manual complete a pass? Besides the int and the deep out and up before half, I think every pass was dropped by the Manual WR/TE/RB's. The passes to my surprise where on the money and just dropped. Does anyone have the passing stats?

They did complete at least one that went for a T.D. (south end zone, the catch was at the 10 and ran it in from there) Your right, a lot of dropped passes.

Of course there are advantages, & they cost around $10 grand a year...

I also that a good move for SK on defense was where they started lining up Hansel. During the season he would occasionally play NG. Manual was ripping off big runs off tackle so the coaches moved Hansel to the strongside DT and it slowed down Manual.

I have to admit, I was scared we were done. Miles just wasn't Miles tonight. He just didn't give 100%.

I've never met the young man, but I think there is no way that the above is true.

Miles puts up 200 yds and 3tds a game and SK's passing game is just as good. I think they are very capable of putting up 40
