I thought the game was indeed a good one. Manual plays extremely hard, but i believe in the second quarter #62 Danny Williams was hurt and Manual's team did not take a knee. This also happened last year against Trinity when Lawrence got hurt. I just think Louisville needs to show some class. NKY at least has that, and also the play of the O-line in the second half really surprised me. #74 Hansel started crushing people as well as #76 Adam Heidrich, IMO he really has stepped up on the right side after the loss of Picirillo, really taking #71 under his wing and stepping up as a senior. I tip my hat to those 2 boys on the line. Overall a great game, and I cannot wait for friday's game in Louisville

I can see why you would see that as a lack of class, but in Louisville nobody does that unless it's a serious injury. Even in the more serious instance while the players on the field would kneel or huddle quietly the sideline often doesn't.

One of the coaches mentioned it and everyone said your crowd was screaming at us when that happened, no one knew why at first. It was also mentioned how when later one of our guys was down your whole team (on the field and on the sideline) went down on one knee.

No insult or slight was intended.

I remember another conversation about this. In my area teams don't normally take knees when players are injured. It's not an insult to anyone, we just are not used to it. It seems that some get really upset if the opposing teams doesn't "Take a knee". I don't really understand that.

I have been coaching football since 1986 and it is something relatively new. Like I said earlier I think it comes from soccer. The reason it started IMO is because usually there is one coach coaching little kids 6,7, and 8 and when a player is hurt the coach tells his players to take a knee. The reason he tells them this is to keep them from running around while he is not watching them, not becuase it shows respect or class.

I was there and what happened was some students in the student section sang a taunting song. It was tasteless and I think it was horrible that they did it.

 

That said I recently looked up that thread and there were comments made on this subject and I actually contradicted some T fans who claimed it did not happen. I don't think anyone here can paint me as particularly friendly to NKY 6A either.

Dude, I was a hardcore Trinity fan in this game... I sat on T's side and yelled and cheered and everything. But I did hear the "hey hey hey goodbye". They only chanted for like 5 seconds... I guess some administration from Trinity cut it out?

 

As far as the hit... I agree.. It was clean and the SK fans overreacted on the Trinity players.

 

Where were you sitting? Was it the students? As I said we were on the 30 yard line, closest to the open end, and we didn't hear it...

 

Actually I was sitting in the third row not far from the action and I DID hear our student section do that. I was thought it was very tasteless on the part of the students to do that.

Don't have a bone in this one but you can't tell me that EVERY school doesn't have a few teenagers that will act like idiots!! Doesn't mean it's right and I guarantee you if a THS adult representative was there it would have been stopped immediately, just as with every other school!

I guess you learn something every day. I played football all the way through college and didn't know that taking a knee is a sign of respect for an injured player.
