Rumor has it that Dixie players were spitting on Highland's banner (the pre-game endzone banner) as it layed on the sideline near where they entered the field. Hope it's a rumor. If it's true maybe they learned a lesson.....don't give a very good team a reason to get even more fired up about playing you.

I was happy to hear that HHS is testing a Internet broadcast of the game and tonight was the first time out of the gate. Apparently it was a three man crew in the Studio tonight.

 

Spoke with them tonight afterwards and they indicated that it's a "work in progress". It was kind of funny listening to them talk about it. Maybe they need call names. How bout something like "Goose" and "Maverick". One even "The Camel". IDK, maybe just start out small and see where it goes.

Really, so Dixie deferred! Wow! And you are saying the Spritzky put all second teamers on their kick coverage team. Is this a first for the year or is this how Spritzky does it? I know a lot of teams put a mix of starters and non-starters on special teams, but I am getting from this that this isn't the norm and maybe there was something that happened that forced Spritzky to do that.

Good job Birds. I said Dixie would have to score 50 to make it a game. Highlands is an impressive of a high school football team I've seen in many years. Number 78 for Dixie had a lot of heart.

Did anyone see, tonight, what was quite possibly the greatest catch ever made at DCM?

Okay, since it looks like no one is going to bite, I'll just have to brag on myself. Midway through the third quarter, Patrick Towles launched a long bomb to the Highlands side of the south end zone. The pass sailed a little long and went out of bounds; but it still had a lot of heat on it and bounced on the track. The ball then proceeded to bounce above a concrete platform and over a railing...where it nailed my nephew right in the chest. He bobbled it (gotta work on the kid's hands) and it headed my way. It jumped two people and landed in my grasp. It was my very first pass reception at Highlands...and it only took 44 years. :ylsuper:

 

I was so enraptured with my accomplishment that I didn't even hear the ball boy pleading with me to throw the ball back to him. I got flustered and tried to pass it through the railings, which wasn't even close to possible...then I franticly tossed it over the rail like a pirate dumping an explosive overboard.

 

In any case, it was my proudest moment at DCM! :clap:

Dixie will continue to get out-coached in big games until a chage is made, but the Head man is the AD and I guess he won't be firing himself.
