I don't think they deserve any more credit then they've earned:rolleyes:. So they beat a team from Ohio and one from Louisville?:clap:?:clap:?? Does that make them unstoppable? I don't think so. They play a more finesse style game then we play in the mountains. Once they play a hard hitting team we will find out how good they really are.

 

Some times it's just too easy to yank a chain:popcorn::popcorn:.

 

And after they beat the mountain teams you are talking about they will have to listen to St. X and Trinity say they havent played them. Sounds to me like a lose/lose situation for the Bluebirds.

For the record if you read my first post in it's entirety you'll realize I'm being EXTREMELY sarcastic. As a Lawrence County fan my opinion of Highlands dominance is very well formed after the BEATDOWN we took in 99(??) at Highlands. Yeah it's been 10 years but it will never stop hurting.

 

As for some of the Highlands fans that don't understand the backlash you need to realize that if you are the Yankees of KY Football people will either LOVE or HATE your program. It's doesn't mean anyone disrespects your team or coaches it's just that just as much as you want to see your team win every week we want to see you lose! I don't know why that's hard to understand. Every time you win someone else loses. Your celebrations ALWAYS cost another team their dreams. Your 500 Championships and your Theoritical Greater Cincinnati Championship and claim to the "Best in KY" ALWAYS costs someone else their dreams of doing the exact same thing.

 

So in closing I will just say that Highlands is without any doubt the best team in KY and truly has some of if not the most devoted fans, but myself and thousands of people would be more than happy to see you lose in the next round and go home to stare at all your trophies and banners and start getting ready for next year. Good day to you sir!

Best chance to win it all is an easy pick for me. However, I don't know what some people are thinking but I look at that poll and I see names on there I wouldn't overlook.

I think the vast majority of Highlands fans understand that very well. There are always going to be a few fans that enjoy the chance to have some fun with people within the cloak of anonymity provided by the Internet. They boast and make bold claims about their teams prowess and maybe insult some people unfairly. When your team is fortunate enough to enjoy a measure of success, the temptation to do these things can be proportionally stronger.

 

So, our team, like any other, is going to have a few fans who get a little carried away and sound arrogant. Part of it is justifiable pride, some of it is frustration with people seeming to hate your team, and your fans, for the reasons you stated -- and more. When certain people are constantly placing the black hat on your head, maybe you get to the point where you just give in and become what they believe you to be.

 

I can tell you this, every Highlands fan I know feels blessed and very fortunate to have the team, the school, the fans, and the town that we have. We wouldn't trade them for the world. But we do very much recognize how fortunate we are, and we look down on no one. The team and its coaches never take an opponent for granted.

 

It's not that we don't have a sense of humor -- far from it. To pigeonhole an entire community with such a blanket statement is terribly unfair. I just think that some of our fans are so used to people mistaking pride for arrogance and frankness for insult that they immediately get defensive when they sense that they're being attacked.

 

I'm not trying to "apologize" for our fans, as I see nothing to apologize for. Our team and community has worked very hard over many generations for what we have, and have earned the right to crow a little. I just ask that you understand when some of those crows start looking a little more like pterodactyls. Just don't make blanket assumptions about every Highlands fan -- or any fan -- based on the bold comments of just a few.

Ya know Cov. Cath. if they survive Woodford County, which I think they will, might get by an overated Johnson Central team next week who allowed Scott to put up 40 on them. The result would mean a meeting with the Birds at Highlands on 11/21.

 

Hey Dixie, why in the world do you like getting on Johnson Central so much? They were without a doubt the fastest team HHS played last year and I don't think they lost too much from that squad. If it wasn't for Bardo and Collinsworth last year on D, HHS doesn't win State. Do you know something that the rest of us don't?

 

If they make a trip to Ft. Thomas in two weeks, they might just expose HHS"s weakness on offense. Yes, it's improving but has a long way to go. I think it's of best interest to not stir the pot down South.

This is arguably the greatest Highlands team ever. Let's not assume they will be this good every year, because they aren't.
