I will be the first to admit that if Boone didn't have so many high schools or they could move from area to area, Boone would be like a Scott in Basketball, or a HHS, St.X or "T" in football.

 

Boone has no one to complain to except the BC BOE for the lack of state championships in the County, as the quality of players is there, but it is too watered down to win a KHSAA State Title!

Your correct, but my guess is most on this board aren't even old enough to remember the 83 Conner "Senior" High School team as it was called back in the day!

I believe Conner also went to the championship in 1980 and lost to Franklin-Simpson. Just curious Old Guy..........how does open enrollment work in Kenton Co.? Can a kid switch schools every year if he wants to? You are right, if Boone County allowed OE, they could put some serious teams on the fields and court. I don't think it will ever happen.

Thompson pulled Alford towards the end of the 3rd qtr and in came his sophomore son to finish the game. IMO seniors should have been able to finish out their last game on the field regardless of who St.X had on the field. The stories that are coming from this program doesn't look good for the future. Boone has talent, maybe not St.X type of talent, but they have better than what is being put out on the field in certain positions. It's a shame that the kids have to suffer from the political nonsense of some programs.

Yes Clyde, 21-0 after one offensive play. It was 28-0 at the end of the 1st quarter and 42-0 at halftime.

While I do have friends in Union I can't be called a Ryle fan. I am a fan of the previous team that received a butt-whipping prior to Boone.

I honestly have doubts if Boone will every be "Boone" again. With the addition of two new high schools in Boone County (and more on the way) since the Alexander era, I really think the talent level in Boone County has been "watered" down to the point of mediocrity. Boone, Ryle, Conner, Cooper, ?????, will field decent competitive teams but I don't think they will ever field a state champion ever again. Just my opinion guys.

The Tigers are continuing to get better, and have 4 significant starters (Barito, Lawson, Karrer,and Buehner) who will we be returning next week. This team will get the respect it deserves in the upcoming weeks. Year of the Tiger!!!!! St.X 2009 is the fastest overall top to bottom team I have seen in a long time. They are fast! Tiger fans keep praying for the "one we want" opponent Dec. 5th. Their freshman are doing good, and it would be nice to add one to the series lead.

Yes, seniors should finish out their last game in that situation. From an outsiders view, Boone was in the middle of a rebuilding year it seems, lost alot of senior starters from last year, 9 of 11 on the denfensive side alone. There is definitly talent there at certain positions, but, it is up to the coaching staff to develop their players, through off season conditioning, and teaching. Boone was handed a tough schedule this year, no doubt, now, how does the TEAM respond,TEAM means coaches also, that is the million dollar question. Good luck BCHS

I really don't think you have the "big picture". First of all, I do not believe that counties, (Boone in particular), creates high schools on the premise to field superior athletic teams. Whether it be men's or women's. It builds schools for one reason, and one reason only; overcrowding. The reason that our schools are facing this dilemma, is the fact that this metroplex in the Northern Ky area is a wonderful place to live and the population growth within this county is growing at a tremendous pace. Children within this county have faced situations where one year they are playing on a team with their best friend and the next year he or she is your adversary. Sound fun? Maybe, maybe not. Make them less of a competitor? I don't think so. State championships (football in particular), has eluded teams many times in Boone County, I will give you that. Given the present situation, championships may never come again. But I will tell you one thing, children in this county and Northern Ky as a whole. Whether it be athletics, music, academics, etc. will show up ready to compete and compete with everything they have on any given day. Decent competitiveness; it will not be. Mediocrity; don't plan on it. That's just my opinion guys.
