Agreed. I should've been more clear, win consistently every year. Can't expect anyone to win it all ever year.

 

And, for the most part, X and T do win consistently in every sport.

So X had 1400 boys. SK has 770 or so.

 

Can we agree that the delta is "considerable?" Is it "likely" that you can find quite a few talented boys in those extra 600+?

I did not intend to provoke you on this board. I did mis-quote the actual numbers but not by much. My point to all of this is that there are many Trinity and ST X fans that come on here and consistently brag about how they are so dominant. This may not be you but it gets a little old reading these kinds of posts when in fact St X and Trinity should dominate based on the numbers of kids they get. The public schools they are beating draw from a certain area, and are restricted by boundaries. ST X and Trinity are not. A little more respect by some of these fans would be nice.

Are we getting players from across the state? Only player that I am aware of to come "across the state" to a school here was Tony Driver and he didn't go to X or Trinity.

 

Only reason any players are here from out of state for either school is because we are in a border city. Even then there have been less than a handful of them not from KY that have had much of an impact.

 

I also don't understand why some school refuse to allow out of district students. There is no law that forbids it. The refusal to allow it in my mind is just selfish practice by some districts that seem to think they "own" the kids.

Why they insist on restricting people on where they can go to school is beyond me. I have never understood it. Even in Louisville you can go to just about any public school. The restrictions are quite minimal. Open enrollment is really how it should be in any area with multiple schools.

I think people in Boone County are happy with where they are going to school and do not base their decision on which football program will be better for them. Football is something you do for recreation while you go to school. It is not the other way around.

I understand that, but I also believe that you should be able to choose your school for reasons other than because you live in a certain area.

 

People in Louisville choose Manual all the time for their academic excellence, much like X and T, and Manual happens to be one of the most competitive public schools in the state. Magnet programs and a concentration of resources at different locations for specific needs and/or abilities is of great benefit to any school district. Especially if you want to maximize academic potential instead of spreading things piecemeal throughout a county. You seem to think that all I care about is athletics. Academics are the whole purpose for a school to exist, were it not for that then there would be no football team, no basketball team, no marching band(well at most schools anyway), no pep club and no FBLA. The important thing is to commit yourself to excellence in academics so as to draw as many students as possible, not just sit there and stagnate because you know you will have people attending your school no matter what.

 

Growing up in Louisville I have never understood the purpose of restricting someone's scholastic choice. Competition is of great benefit both academically AND athletically.
