I really don't see what the big deal is at all.

 

If you don't see the big deal, then you have a different perception of the game as what it means to play possibly your last high school football game ever. Even some parents of the underclassmen agreed that the seniors should have finished that game out in their base positions. For some of them, it's the last time they will ever touch a football field for competition. The game was well decided and if the underclassmen hasn't started to develop by the final quarter of the final game, then that's another problem, they'll get their chance next year.

Thompson pulled Alford towards the end of the 3rd qtr and in came his sophomore son to finish the game. IMO seniors should have been able to finish out their last game on the field regardless of who St.X had on the field. The stories that are coming from this program doesn't look good for the future. Boone has talent, maybe not St.X type of talent, but they have better than what is being put out on the field in certain positions. It's a shame that the kids have to suffer from the political nonsense of some programs.

 

Unless Coach Thompson pulled all of the starters at this time I'd be very disappointed in this move. What was there to gain from it? You yank a kid in his last game ever when your team is obviously going to lose?

 

The kids are already disappointed not only about this game but their entire season and you yank a senior at the most high-profile position. That gives the impression to some that blame is being placed on the young man. How ironic! What? Did he not hand off with the right hand? We know it had nothing to do with the nonexistant undeveloped passing game so what exactly did he do to get yanked?

 

Please tell me we've since found out he was hurt. If not, its a black eye for Coach Thompson.

Nice job by the coach singling out one kid on a bad team.

You are right. How could I forget Nick. I guess the Tigers will repeat as SI athletic program of the state. Two State Titles (Golf and Soccer) awarded both to the Tigers. Two more to go in fall sports. We truly dominate across the board, Go Tigers!

 

St X is truly a great program as is Trinity but please don't get too worn out patting yourself on the back. Both programs have about a thousand more students than anyone else.

 

I would love to see you both matched up year in and year out with programs your own size. Maybe you both can join the GCL in Cincinnati. I would root for both Trinity and St X to succeed, but your run of championships and "dominance" would sure take a hit.

Here is a couple of observations from my point of view. 13 seconds in 7-0. 52 seconds in-14-0. After first offensive play 21-0, after 3 minutes. X started fast, played fast, and decided the game in the first 3 minutes.

 

With that said, it has to be noted that this is not a defense like the last couple of years. Boone threw successfully on them- let me repeat that- Boone THREW successfully on them. The success of the overall defense will depend on the health of the kids sitting out right now.

Offensively, Brohm had a nice delivery to the speedy Hall but the running game is where St X will win. With Mcmurray, Neal, Hayden, and Montano, they have 4 backs that can go if they get past the LOS. In the Cincy St X game, the front 8 shut down the run and forced them to pass. But then again, the Bombers have 36 people playing college ball right now( 9 per class) so they may be a touch more talented than what is in front of them.

 

What is in front of the Tigers is a 8-3 team that only lost to Simon Kenton and Highlands. Good luck Tigers.

That would have been accurate and a fair statement. Accuracy is what makes BGP such a good message board. The hyerbole, for the most part, is quickly recanted or discredited on these boards.

JMO this will never happen. As you said X and T are GREAT programs. :notworthy: But year in and year out they could not play with GCL teams. They know the playing field is not level the way things are now. And they like it. JMO.

Can we agree that the delta is "considerable?" Is it "likely" that you can find quite a few talented boys in those extra 600+?
