October 30, 200916 yr The girls team had the gym rented. The way the contract is spelled out, they get it for the whole day. That's what they were saying on the radio this morning. Hey, if the LadyCards want it, they get it. National Runner-Up gets priority...
October 30, 200916 yr I think Deuce, Rockmom and TD might have been planning a protest outside Freedom Hall during the scheduled practice. Before it start but like everyone else they would be wearing a John Wall jersey on the front roll.

October 30, 200916 yr If you are a UK player Id have to think your glad this isn't going to happen. If you were a player would you want to drive all the way to Louisville and back just to practice? From a players stand point I think it would be a waste of time although I guess it sucks for the Louisville UK fans.

From a players stand point I think it would be a waste of time although I guess it sucks for the Louisville UK fans.To be perfectly honest I think this is the reality. My guess as to how the situation went down. Someone (likely UK fan) at the Board and Expo Center says "Hey John the rims will be set up at Freedom Hall, how about you guys come up and practice for the UK fans up here" John says "Great idea, that would be good" UK officials get everything set up, media informed and public made aware Louisville sports talk shows go ballistic with "John wants to take it to Pitino" "This is a direct competition with Louisville" John hears the reaction, and team managers complain of logistics as well as potential NCAA problems. John says "Well maybe not" Winners... no one really. Losers... UK fans in Louisville, but they were losers to begin with:D
October 30, 200916 yr I wonder if UK would consider still doing it, but move it to maybe Bellarmine or the Kentucky International Convention Center? KICC may be a bit of a challenge, but it has hosted some women's games in the past, so should be able to accommodate a UK practice. If UK was REALLY interested in practicing for the fans in Louisville, they'd move it. It was a publicity stunt to practice in Freedom Hall.

October 31, 200916 yr No official reason given by the university. Darn it!:lol::lol: I think Deuce, Rockmom and TD might have been planning a protest outside Freedom Hall during the scheduled practice. Nice one LRCW.:clap:
October 31, 200916 yr So...in the end, UL had nothing to do with canceling this practice. It was a decision made by UK: We originally planned a practice at Freedom Hall on Sunday afternoon to give our guys a chance to practice in an arena that we will compete in later this season,” Calipari said in the release. Calipari's statement went on to say that the practice was canceled because word spread about the event in Louisville, and publicity was “created by several media outlets.” That put UK at risk of violating an NCAA rule that prohibits publicized preseason practices at off-campus sites
October 31, 200916 yr I hope there is an open practice for the game on the 30th. I would like my 11 year old grandaughter to see THE University of Kentucky in action.
