October 28, 200916 yr By what standard? Pro potential? If we're going by pro potential I'll say Colt McCoy would be high on the list. Tebow would be on that list as well. Both are truly great college players though. Tebow will go down deservedly as one of the greatest college players of all time.
October 28, 200916 yr Author Any way you think a player is overrated. Whether it's pro potential or just in general. I really agree about Tebow. He really has done great this year. But the media blows him up so big. He would have to throw and run for 700 yards a game to no be overrated.
October 28, 200916 yr If you took THIS SEASON alone, and still have Tebow and McCoy as top 3 Heisman contenders...both are overrated. They haven't had seasons worthy of this IMO. I know i'll take a beating on this, but if this is a stand alone season, I don't see how they aren't overated.

October 28, 200916 yr Author I don't disagree at all. I think everyones allergic to bronze or something this year. It's like nobody wants that trophy. I thought Ingram was going to stepup and take the lead. But with only 99 yards against the Vols this past Saturday I guess not. As of right now nobody really deserves it. But there's still alot of football to be played.

It is really begging for a defensive player to step up and take the award. Sadly, the Heisman Trophy is not awarded to the best player in college football. It is generally just an award handed to a QB or RB that most lived up to preseason hype.
October 28, 200916 yr Author Sad but very true. Who was the last defensive player to win? Was it Woodson back around 97? I'm not positive, that's just my guess. If so that's a long stretch without a defensive player receiving it.
October 28, 200916 yr I think Woodson was the ONLY one to win it. And his stats weren't great that year...made a couple of HUGE plays on national TV in big games, and Manning lost to Florida and Memphis.
October 28, 200916 yr Taylor Mays is overrated and here's why: People think he's better than Berry? He's good, but he's not all world like he is made out to be. He has no ball skills (2 INT's the last 3 seasons), and is basically a glorified LB. Berry gives you so much more.

He may have very well been the best in college that season. Ndamukong Suh, I believe, is the best player in college football and worthy of consideration.

I agree on Suh, he's the best defensive lineman that I've seen the last few years at the college level.:thumb:
October 28, 200916 yr I am all for finding a defensive guy worry of consideration... but being on the 4-3 Cornhuskers with back to back bad losses at home... how dominating could he really be? He may be a Top 5 pick, but should be nowhere near the Heisman discussion.
